Forbidden Mountain

I remember a few months ago, everyone was talking about how Forbidden Mountain was a "sure thing" and how it was to begin construction sometime in early 2003. As of now, there hasn't been any groundbreaking or a press release from Disney! Does anyone have any clue as to if and when we will finally get some news on this ride. Animal Kingdom could really use a new attraction and this would finally bring that extra bridge from Dinoland to Asia that everyone wants so bad. :)

Last I heard was that both ground breaking and a press release were going to happen sometime in February. I guess we'll see next month. :animwink:

Yeah, I think it might be a little later around Arpil or something. But still, I think it's almost a given that it's gonna be built. Now, we just have to wait.....

Still, I know there's a person or two on the board who do have some information about the project. Hopefully they'll post here soon.

I'm telling you...

when MapQuest updates their aerial shots section, for 2003, or beyond, we'll be able to see a lot of construction, including the M:S building from Space itself, and any possible construction taking place anywhere in the empty open cleared land between Africa and Asia in the Animal Kingdom...:)

I believe it will be built but I don't want it to. Why you ask? Because of the name. I would love to have a bridge to Asia and Dinoland to walk across. And I would love a new ride. But I don't like the name. Maleficent was said to live on Forbidden Mountain. But now they are putting this ride in Animal Kingdom. Doesn't Disney know this? I mean come on. But oh well. I cetainly can't change the name. I guess it will have to do. At least it is a new ride. But when do you think it will be finished. Give me an estimate, anything.

Trust me names change all the time before an attraction is done......anyone remember Imagination! along the Rivers Of America in DL.....no oh that is right it is called Fantasmic! now. Or how about Fantasmic Hollywood! in Disney/MGM Studios....oh what they droped the Hollywood part. Or has anyone been to E.P.C.O.T. Center in a while....no? How about Epcot 92....Epcot 93??? LOL and then the best of all how about Euro Disney LOL.

I like the name and the concept sounds great!!! But I really love the idea of the bridge, I would love it more if that means they great rid of Tarzan Rocks!!! (the only Disney show I have ever walked out of)

Even OFFICIAL names change (Tiger Rapids Run), but Forbidden Mountain is not even official--disney has not officially said anything about this project, so consider Forbidden Mountain a project name--every attraction starts with a project name, and it pretty much always is replaced by a better, more interesting name. Don't worry about the name:)

I think it would be cool, but they just opened Dino-Rama and I think they are going to wait a couple more months before this happens, so I guessing it wont happen till July or August, but thats just my opinion! I think a bridge would be great too, that may come before anything else does.

Dino-Rama opened ten months ago...I like it, but it is definitely not what Animal Kingdom needed (still needs). Test Track finally opened in 1999, and Mission: SPACE was announced in 2000...so any time now, an announcement could be released (empasis on COULD).

Maybe...but I think AK needs a break, and they should focus on Epcot, cause it need some serious help!

I'd have to disagree, Epcot has much more attractions than AK, and we still didn't even see the opening of M:S either.

Bringing back the Forbidden Mountain subject, I just remembered something. A while back (it wasn't too far ago) Eisner said that there was a whole new land being planned for Animal Kingdom. Are these plans dropped? Is Forbidden Mountain in this new land? I'd appreciate if someone had a link to the press conference where he said this.

Dino-Rama was the "new land" that Eisner was talking about. I think he said this in a letter to the shareholders in either the 2000 or 2001 annual report.
