ok so totally random question, and I didn't know the best place to post it?!

Have any of you found any hair product that really stands up to the humidity in FL?? I have straight hair that absolutely goes nuts with the humidity. Even after living there for 5 months, I still never found anything! Now my whole family is heading out there and they're asking me for suggestions...?? Has anyone found anything that actually works?? And yes, I've been laughing at myself the whole time I was typing this!!

I carry the Sleek line from Matrix and my clients really love, love ,love it!
It does a great job at fending off humidity and here in MA it is soooo humid in the summer months.
You should be able to find it at any professional hair salon. The whole line is packaged in orange bottles, you can't miss it! Good luck!

Bah. I totally understand your situation. My hair frizzes in the tiniest bit of moisture.

For a cheaper solution, maybe you could try the Garnier Fructis products. I haven't tested them out in humid weather, since we don't have any of that here, but they work on my hair!

I live in NC, so we have a ton of humidity here, too. And I have naturally curly hair which just translates as a frizz ball in the summer.

I use the John Freida FrizzEase line for things like hair gels and hair spray, especially the latter. It's not too expensive, either. I've also had good results with the Fructis hair milk as well.

My favorite is Aveda, but that's definitely the more pricy route. The Aveda Be Curly line totally rocks!

Well for me I usually keep my hair fairly short especially when I go to Disney (in Sept hot and humid) I use "Being warped "by rusk..It's like a wax gel combo...need very little but tames the frizzies ...and if all fails I just wear my mickey ears!!!

I use the same product line and love it. But even so, I find that I have to just style my hair differently at Disney than I do at home. I end up pulling my bangs and the sides of my hair back with a barrette while at Disney.

The style I normally wear just will not hold up in the humidity, regardless of the prodcuts I use. I end up with hair flat on top of my head and hanging in my face if I do not pull it back in the high humidity.

I have long hair and cannot wear it down in the summer months in Disney. It's just way too hot to wear it down.

I will try some of your suggestions, though. What i've always used just does not work.

 Oh the joys of Floridian weather. I have naturally curly hair that straightens easily so I definitely know all about the frizz battle. I use Garnier Fructis styling products. They work the best for me and are conveniently cheap. Using a deep conditioner seems to help too but that might just be me.

I run into this question quite a bit from my clients (I'm a hairstylist) and the best defense against frizz is moisture. I find that if hair is really hydrated it will manage the humidity better. Even if your hair is naturally curly it won't frizz as much if it is moisturized. I always bring a deep conditoner to WDW with me that not only helps with frizz but also repairs any damage I have done in the pool! ( I don't always take my own advice, I just can't swim and not dunk my head!) Sometimes I'll even sleep with it in and rinse it out in the morning. My hair isn't the type of hair that I can just let dry naturally (picture raggedy Ann, yarn head) so I always lug my super powered hairdryer with me, the ones in the rooms just don't cut it. Again, I find the Sleek line from Matrix is the best. The whole line is silcone based so it really helps to lock out unwanted frizz, unless of course you get caught in spur of the moment Florida rain!

:shrug:Has anyone found that the water makes styling your hair difficult? Any hair products for hard water?

There are many types of shampoos that work great on hard water, chlorine and product build up. In hard water there is an abundance of magnesium and calcium ions which is why it's difficult to style your hair and it probably feels really coated like there is soap scum left behind in it. The best type of shampoo for hard water is either a purifying or clarifying type or a chelating shampoo. These shampoos help cleanse and restore shine to the hair shaft and prevents any further build up. Many professional lines carry these types of shampoos such as Joico K-Pac chelating shampoo or even Paul Mitchell shampoo 3. I don't have much knowledge on store brands but I'm sure you could find a purifying/clarifying shampoo in any drug store out there. Just make sure only to use these types of shampoos 2 times a month (they can be a bit harsh) and back it up with a really moisturizing conditioner.
Hope this helps!

Here's my 2 cents.......

I live in VERY humid Cape Cod with picky hair. It absolutely hates all Paul Mitchell products (feels dry and brittle) and all hair gels (gets all greasy) To beat the frizz (blond hair, lots of "whispy" pieces in the front that stick UP) I use:

Frizz Ease: only apply to wet hair

Biolage Deep Conditioning Balm: it has to say balm! I put it on after the pool also for an added help. It will weigh your hair down

To get the chlorine out of my hair the best thing for me is Aveda Detoxifier

My sister, my mother and my best friend are hairdressers and I definitly was the study buddy for all three. But this is only what works for me, good luck on your hunt.

I guess I'm in the minority here - I LOVE humidity, because it makes my hair curl (all those years of trying to straighten it were a lost cause, anyway!) I just let it go wild when I'm in Florida. :ROFLOL:

I use Garnier Fructise Style Sleek and Shine anti-humidity styling cream. I have very thick and curly hair, so when I want to straighten it, this cream makes my hair so soft and it does work against humidity. I forgot until reading others posts about the water in FL...my hair never styles the same like at home.

The new frizzEase weather works collection works really well for me. :)
