Exactly. Making something in small batches does not equal quality. I home brew, I have made some small batches of crap.
Along the same lines, just because it is made in mass quantity does not mean it is bad.
Also, the idea that more is better is incorrect. Just because 2 oz of hops in a 5 gal batch is good, does not mean that 6 oz is better.
As for Budweiser, I don't like it. Not because of what it is, but because I don't like the taste. I don't care if it is made with rice, corn, or the tears of orphans. If it tastes good, then it tastes good. Budweiser used to be the expensive beer. When brewing first started in America (before prohibition) most beers were ales, dark, and full of flavor. Creating a lighter, lager style beer, with RICE was more expensive. Rice was more expensive. Because of prohibition, and the positioning of brewhouses during prohibition to sell other products and stay afloat, the landscape of American beers changed drasticaly. Read "Brew Wars" (I think that is the name, too lazy to go check) for a good history of beer in America.
OK, I hate being lazy. I went and looked (and found it quicker than I though I would) . Man was I waaaaay off. The book I was thinking of is "Ambitious Brew"
