Food Intolerance?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Oh it's okay. Yes, it was an MD. I was diagnosed with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (early stages of liver disease, it is reversible) that was caused by hypothyroidism. It took 4 years and 5 doctors to finally get an answer and because it took so long my current doctor felt it was best to go very extreme with diet and medications to prevent any more damage to my liver.
I feel your pain on getting a diagnosis. I have had symptoms of hypothyroid for over 10 years! Been fighting with my gyn about it and all she ever ran was the basic thyroid tests (TSH and T4) not the FULL panel that would be needed for a proper diagnosis nor has she ever even felt my neck just in case I could have symptoms there!!! My TSH In 2009 was slightly over the normal range yet she still says there is nothing wrong with my thyroid! I know from doing lots of my own research you don't have to have really high TSH numbers to exhibit all the symptoms and you can even be in the "normal" range and still have it. I now am finally going see an internist she referred me to for high tryglycerides(I know it's a symptom of hypo!) and will have that doc run all the proper tests, and I will go from there and see an endo I needed. So frustrated and tired of not feeling "normal" for years!! Hopefully if I do have it it has not caused my liver or kidneys any damage from not being ever diagnosed and getting treatment. I wish you the best and hopefully you do not have to be on the diet forever!! :)

Ugh... Doctor's who won't listen to their patients are the worst! I had a doctor tell me for two years that nothing was wrong, it was all in my head, and that I'm just depressed. I had to find a new doctor quick! My blood test were coming back a little irregular for 3 years straight but my doctors kept brushing it off. I have only ever had male doctors so I figured, "hey, lets try a female for a change" and sure enough she got down to business! She had me going for different test every week for about 6 six weeks. She was determined to end my suffering. The news wasn't good but I was happy to know what was wrong. And you are absolutely right about the symptoms in normal range. My doctor felt my neck and said my thyroid felt fine but the test showed otherwise. Always always always seek a second opinion! I hope everything works out for you. I hope I wont be stuck on this diet forever either, after this trip Ill be heading to WDW in 259 days! and I'm determined to try a dark vader cupcake! :hungry::hungry::hungry:

Thanks! My gyn is a WOMAN which makes it worse that she won't listen to me! She never even felt my neck, nothing! My TSH was 5.4 in 2009 and I know from my research and close friends who have been diagnosed at 1-2 you feel your best and my lab only up to 4 is in the normal range. This time it was close to 4 so still higher than ideal. No telling what I had in 2010-2012 b/c we never ran any blood work those years on my thyroid. Hoping the new internist a woman will try to get to the bottom of this. I heard she is really nice and truly listens to you etc. So hoping we get somewhere. Lol. If im told i have to go gluten free etc im telling her im starting after my trip in Dec!!!! lol. Anywho I too hope by your next trip you can have that cupcake!!!! :)

Thank you all for your help and concern. I did reach out to the Special Diet department at Disney and they have already responded! So maybe my trip will be magical after all. I'm young (not even 25) so I have a lot of fight and life left in me so I know I can do this no problems!

I've got my trusty food guide from my doctor and my appetite :hungry: 19 days to go!
and you seem to have a positive attitude...adding to a winning combination...
