Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I feel your pain on getting a diagnosis. I have had symptoms of hypothyroid for over 10 years! Been fighting with my gyn about it and all she ever ran was the basic thyroid tests (TSH and T4) not the FULL panel that would be needed for a proper diagnosis nor has she ever even felt my neck just in case I could have symptoms there!!! My TSH In 2009 was slightly over the normal range yet she still says there is nothing wrong with my thyroid! I know from doing lots of my own research you don't have to have really high TSH numbers to exhibit all the symptoms and you can even be in the "normal" range and still have it. I now am finally going see an internist she referred me to for high tryglycerides(I know it's a symptom of hypo!) and will have that doc run all the proper tests, and I will go from there and see an endo I needed. So frustrated and tired of not feeling "normal" for years!! Hopefully if I do have it it has not caused my liver or kidneys any damage from not being ever diagnosed and getting treatment. I wish you the best and hopefully you do not have to be on the diet forever!!Oh it's okay. Yes, it was an MD. I was diagnosed with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (early stages of liver disease, it is reversible) that was caused by hypothyroidism. It took 4 years and 5 doctors to finally get an answer and because it took so long my current doctor felt it was best to go very extreme with diet and medications to prevent any more damage to my liver.
