We are all prepared for Disney and going to be visiting Universal for a Day (express pass plus :D ).
Any advice on what to to for eating lunch and dinner?
I.e. Should I phone and book in advance, should we go to or avoid a certain restaurant.

This is our honeymoon so thought about the Hard Rock Cafe - it doesnt need to be anywhere fancy.

We are going to be in Universal Studios AND Islands of Adventures all morning and night ( Islands of Adventures in the morning and Universal a night).

Thanks

The Monsters Cafe is worth visiting, since it has props from the classic horror movies. The food sucks there though. I had a personal pizza and it was terrible.

Hard Rock is really good but a bit pricey for what you get in my opinion. I second Mythos, it is really nice. Universal's counter service food is traditionally better than Disney's counter service food in my opinion.

Thanks for the advice. Is it worth phoning and booking Mythos? will be going August 5th 08.

Might do Mythos for lunch and Hard Rock for dinner.

Many of the restaurants do not take reservation for dining after 5:00 PM. Others will take reservations as early as 24 hours in advance. In most cases, just stopping at the dining cart in CityWalk and make the reservation the day you plan to dine. This is the main number for dining reservations: 407-224-FOOD.

Other recommendations would be Emeril's Tchoup Chop at Royal Pacific Resort or The Palm at Hard Roch Hotel. Anyways Mythos and Hard Rock Cafe are great choices aswell.

Heading for the great escape.
Margaritaville is a must for us, we also go to The Kitchen at the HRH one of the most underrated places ever.

This Nov the plan is Margaritaville, The Kitchen, Mythos(highly rated by my daughter) and Pastamore.

I may sneak Emerils in instead as a surprise.

In the parks (I didn't like the over priced chains in City Walk), we ate at the fast food joint inside the Oak Tree in IOA. It was pretty tasty - burgers about like a Ruby Tuesday with corn on cob. At Universal Studios, we ate at Lumbard Street in San Francisco. Pretty tasty shrimp poboy. DW had a delicious Asian wrap. Nice atmosphere table service with no wait in May.

Mythos, by far. Last time I was there, ended up getting fresh risotto with pan seared chicken surrounded by a creamy tomato sauce. It was incredible.

Mythos, Confiscos, Finnegans, Margaritaville, and Bubba Gump . Those are my votes.

As stated over and over, Mythos is the best in park restaurant. Margartiaville is great too. I am still getting over Thursday night's fun 48 hours later. Be sure to try the "Perfect Rita." It does the trick.

MYTHOS! It's by far the best restaurant a Universal! Be sure to get the Mixed Greens Spinach Salad. It's probably the best salad I've ever had! The atmosphere and theming is great, and though it's almost never crowded, you might as well make reservations. Also, it's really not that much more expensive than fast food in the park. If you're going to IoA in the morning, I'd recommend getting there at about 8:30, and by 11:30 (which is when Mythos usually opens) you'll probably have done everything and will be hungry. :slurp:

Have a great time!

When I was there in January, I wasn't impressed at all with the food selection in the parks. It seemed to be the same burger, fries, chicken tenders deal as I recall. I am a vegetarian and don't recall almost anything vegetarian on the menus. Mythos I hear is good. I had dinner at Hard Rock, which was tasty. I would definitely recommend a restaurant at City Walk VS those in the park, unless you desire standard american food. :animwink:

Mythos, most definitely. Some of the best food I've ever had in a theme park. Emeril's Tchop Chop is the same way. I had a duck confit with a plum sauce there and thought I would die for joy. It was delicious. Best food I've ever eaten in all of my 21 years, by far.

If you're looking for something a little less expensive and more themed, possibly with kids in mind, Hard Rock has good food and atmosphere. My family used to love Nascar Cafe but since they've revamped we recommend avoiding it. In USF Finnegans is delicious and Mel's Drive In has a great oldies atmosphere with typical burgers, but they're delicious and filling.

Hope this helps!
