Hi Guys

Are any of you using foam rollers? I've just been introduced to them (somehow I had ever heard of them until recently), and I'm curious about how good they are, and if there are any recommendations for a good make/model. Are they as good as people suggest?

Thanks!

I use "The Grid" by TP Therapy (Trigger Point). Highly recommend this. I also have and love the TP Massage ball. The ball is good for lower and upper back. I use the "Grid" for back, IT band, and calves. You can probably substitute a normal tennis ball or raquet ball, but the grid is well worth the $40 price tag.

Will be bringing mine dow the Disney for the marathon weekend. It packs fairly well, because it's hallow and you can stuff alot inside it to save space when traveling.

Thanks, I'll look into that one.

Last year when I hurt my Achilles, the Dr. said it might be from my muscles not getting lose enough during stretching. So, he mentioned a foam roller. I got the cheap Academy Sports brand to ensure i like it.

I have used it 4-5 times a week for a year. Love it to work out the calves and quads... and of course, the Achilles.

I haven't liked the foam rollers. I found that I was smooshing them too much. My wife got me "The Stick" which I find works pretty well.

We really like ours. We got the J-Fit 36 High Density Roller from Amazon.

Found here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028KDC82/ref=oh_o04_s00_i00_details

My wife uses it to help alleviate her IT Band issues. I've used it to help stretch out both before and after a run.

I've noticed that the new P90X uses it extensively as part of the recovery DVD, so I'm looking forward to having a structured program to use it.

The people at the W&D 1/2 marathon were also highly toting the use of foam rollers, especially if you have IT Band issues.

I'll second this. I bought a Stick at the WDW Marathon expo and I LOVE it. I find that it's much more portable and easier to use than a foam roller. It cost about $37 with tax and the gentleman at the booth assured me that they last a long time.
