Is the new Target store at Flamingo Crossing any good for food? What are the prices like?

We were going to do an instacart shop for delivery to resort and I believe they use Public who are more expensive?

So instead, where we are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, I don't know whether to just go ourselves in a lyft?
They dont have as large of a selection of food as the normal Target, but we shopped there occasionally while we lived down the street. There was only really one time that I needed something in a pinch but they didnt have it and I don’t recall what that was. Limited produce and fresh meets but thats somewhat typical of Target anyway. Outside of groceries, it caters to those items people might need while traveling. Not a huge electronics section but they do have a nice selection of items you would need for smart devices etc. there is a CVS inside and they have a dedicated liquor store as well.

Im not after much really.

Bottled water, pop tarts, cereal bars and some fruit to pad out our breakfasts and snacks for park days
They can hook you up as well as the Walgreens out front.

***Edit to say if you do need to go to a Publix or Walmart head back north on 429 to New International Parkway and go to the ones in Hamlin. Easier to get in and out of compared the ones off 192 next to Margaritaville. And if you are looking for a cool place for a meal outside of Disney check out Fords Garage in Hamlin as well.

The prices at this Target are noticeably higher than other nearby Targets. If you do a small shopping list there for pickup and then change stores, you'll see the price difference. I live nearby and I'd say the prices at Flamingo Crossings are at least ~7% higher per item.

Also, it's not just Target. I've noticed that the prices at Five Guys are higher as well. Walgreens seems to be in line with other locations, nothing has stuck out as being higher there.

You can shop online and see prices. Just put the FC store as your pick-up location.
I think they are somewhat comparable pricewise, and it will depend on what you order, and what specials each happens to be running that week.

That Target isn't huge, but they had an impressive selection of soft drinks! Since the store is very new, it was also super clean when we visited.

IMO, that Target is more geared towards vacationers. Publix is a mainstream grocery store. Walmart is geared a bit towards bulk buying. Walmart is cheaper if you are buying a home-use, but when visiting Orlando for 5 days, I'm not going save money buying big boxes, because I won't finish them.

We mostly bought water, soft drinks, shelf-stable milk, and a couple of snacks. But when I actually arrived to pick up our order, we ended up buying a few more items.

The one thing I'd caution against though is having Target delivered to a WDW resort. WDW will charge for EACH box that arrives.

That Five Guys is expensive. They also messed our orders up more than once.

A large population of their customers are also the 10s of thousands of DCP that live in the neighboring complexes.

"The ninth Orlando-area PDQ fast-casual chicken restaurant has debuted at Walt Disney World's Flamingo Crossings Town Center complex.

The eatery opened Sept. 25 at 2224 Western Way in Winter Garden. This marks the 62nd PDQ overall for the brand and the 47th in Florida."

Florida's obsession over chicken tenders is almost as fascinating as their ability to roll over cars in perfect driving conditions in 35MPH zones.. PDQ, Zaxbys, Huey Magoos, a brand new to the area location called Colbys.. Not to mention Ale House makes it their specialty... The odd thing is, none of them are very impressive... Heck Long john silver's does better chicken tenders and that's a low bar!

Sad but true, and one big joke in central FL is when some pizza places advertise " NY Style Pizza ". It may resemble a slice like in NYC, but the quality is not even close. Also when White Castle opened up their first location a few years ago in FL, in Orlando that place was mobbed and many waited hours to get those little burgers

Our friend took us to a Jewish deli in miami a few weeks ago.. She raved about their bagels.. Baked goods in Florida are just generally not that good.. So many more factors at play than the "its the water" argument. However as a native Buffalonian, I have been able to find wings that stand up to some of the regular spots back home. Nothing is as good as the top notch places back in Buffalo but they easily beat Duffs and Anchor bar..

Agree

Skyline Chili will also open at Flaming Crossings Town Center in early 2023.
As much as I looked forward to my Cincinnati/ Northern KY visits I can't say I'm excited for one in Florida. Something about the Florida weather that took away any cravings for any sort of soup, stews or chili. Heck pasta sounds terrible to me down here too.

That could be a hit or miss is hot steamy FL. I tried an item at Steak N Shake called Chili 5 way. Its ok not something I would crave for. Pasta while filling makes me sleepy.

I'm always amazed that they serve things like the cheddar cheese soup at the Canada Pavilion during Food & Wine. It was in the mid-90s with a heat index of 104-105 when I was there a few weeks ago. Who wants thick cheesy soup in that weather??? I know the festival extends into mid-November, but it's been pretty hot there when I visited in November, too, and that still doesn't explain why it's offered starting in July when the devil himself would complain about butt sweat.
