Fixes for the Haunted Mansion

I'm not a Nightmare Before Christmas fanboy, but I really enjoy HMH. They did an amazing job with the layover and it has a great energy to it rather than the more subdued regular HM. I go to Disneyland every Halloweentime for the sole purpose of riding HMH as it embodies Halloween to me. You might not like it, but that doesn't mean it isn't done well.

It’s more about Christmas though. That’s why playing “What’s This?” during the Halloween parties seems so off. It’s a Christmas song.

I enjoy HMH though. I like the characters, the underscore and that awesome tree in the ballroom. I just wish it didn’t take the place of classic HM during the time where I really want to ride HM.

You would think they would give it a nice referb after they remove HMH but most of the time it ends up worst than before. Lighting and sound is always off and missing ceiling panels and broken AAs are typical after they remove the neon puppet show.

A few years back, I rode the HM soon after it reopened from the overlay.

Leota was stationary on the table (as she should be). It was wonderful to see- having her grounded on the table is far better. It provides an anchor for the room, a point of reference- it gives you somewhere to focus.

So the only good thing I can say about HMH is that it gave me the opportunity to see Leota as she was meant to be, if only once.

I think that Disneyland Haunted Mansion’s queue needs a serious rework. I would love for it to get an update similar to the one at Tokyo Disneyland.

Despite it being my favorite attraction, I'm 100% in favor of the Mansion not returning in early January (as has been speculated on here before) so that post-HMH they can truly spruce it up and make it its best form for its 50th birthday next summer.

Here's an interesting conundrum.. what if they close it after HMH to do some work, it reopens early to mid next year, and ultimately because of that we get more HMH time instead of HM time for all of 2019? :p

Dear Disney,
Given the fact that Haunted Mansion is turning 50 years old in 2019, and we all know she needs a good dose of TLC, can we please delay the return of HMH until 2020? I really don't think that's asking too much.

They can't do that. Tourists plan their visits around seeing HMH during Christmas time.

I could see it happening.

They didn't do anything really except merch for Pirates 50th, so why do you think they'd do anything special for HM other than merch. And really they won't delay HMH anyways, its a prime attraction for the holidays.

I love HM but I wouldn't want to wait 2 years for HMH.. maybe they can start it in Oct or Nov next year if they move forward with a refurb?

It screams Halloween to me. The candles, the jack'o'lanterns, the creepy dolls, the tarot cards, the chilled over graveyard, the colorful creepy lighting. Its a must-see every Halloween for me.
