Fix Toy Story Midway Mania phenomenon

3 days? wow... That's not a lot of time at all... I would say get there at opening, get a fastpass. Do your thing until the fastpass comes up. Even go to another park, come back in the afternoon if you get a well timed fastpass, and do everything at DHS and see Fantasmic at night. With such a short time span, you want to do everything you can.
Oh I definitely do want to get to everything on my list! But I'm going with my grandpa whose 86, so I have to go kind of easy on him. Maybe I'll get up early one morning and make a run for it, I don't want to exhaust my grandpa with park hopping too much in 3 days lol

Maybe they're just happy that there's a ride causing such excitement at DHS again. I'm sure it'll die down over time, just like RnR and ToT before it.

Oh okay. Very understandable then. Have fun!

That's one of the problems I've always had with the Monsters Inc. coaster, conceptually. I think the real reason TSMM is so packed all the time is that because except for TSMM, what rides are there that families with kids under 40" tall can even do??? (and let's face it folks - that's a huge portion of WDW's annual attendance, most of whom are going to visit DHS once on their trip).

I guess there's always the 11th trip on the ever-popular-with-kids Backlot Tour or Great Movie Ride.

While most posters here enjoy multiple rides on Star Tours, Tower of Terror and RnRC to the point that they can enjoy a full day at DHS, the fact of the matter is that with the exception of TSMM, families looking for rides don't have much to do there... and so TSMM has to carry the load for the entire park.

What DHS needs is a family-friendly (re: no height requirement), high capacity attraction... something like what the Little Mermaid omnimover has brought to DCA.

This is it exactly. Precisely this.

Get rid of the fastpass. DCA doesn't have FP on their TSMM and the wait rarely exceeds 30 minutes. I keep waiting for the novelty of the ride to wear off, but here it is 3 years later and it shows no sign of waning.

Add some family friendly capacity to the parks. Cars Land would be a step in the right direction. Or even a couple onmimover type rides. I'd love to see an Incredibles pod dark ride.

i think they shouldn't hand out Fastpasses til a certain time maybe noonish or something like that... People might go do other things like ACTUALLY waiting in line for it..

One or two more Pixar based rides will help. Toy Story is such a classic, and it's a great ride for the family. So, to "break up the crowd" you need another ride or two that are family friendly and based on Pixar classics (Cars, Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles)

Oh gosh. I think we are all Pixar'd out at the moment.

The studio does need some more attractions, no doubt - this is the #1 reason for the TSM situation. Rides for families of varying ages are almost non-existent at MGM. I'm not totally anti-Pixar, but I think they jumped the shark when they added a 2nd ride to WDW themed after Toy Story where you shoot at stuff.

This might be a stupid question but I'll ask anyways-- If I'm going next week for only 3 days is it worth me trying to ride this? Since we're only there for 3 days, I know I'm not going to get to do nearly as much as I want to, but I figured for DHS the only things I really wanted to do was this and Star Tours, but I don't want to spend a whole night waiting in line, or hanging around for a fastpass when there isn't too much more in DHS I'd want to do on a 3 day trip. Is the ride worth such a wait? lol

To be honest...no, it's not. You will find people who disagree, but my take is : it's a ride where you travel flat across the floor, from one generic video screen (and not very large, either - not immersive or around you or anything) to another, each showing a simple carnival game. You bash at the buttons and try to get a high score. Rinse, repeat. Ride over.

Personally I don't find the experience much difference - or enough difference - to wait in line for more than 10 or 15 minutes versus playing the Wii version. I find Buzz over at MK a much better ride.

This is a fantastic ride for kids because of the "4-D" elements to it. And it has very familiar characters to the Toy Story series. Obviously there is some appeal or it wouldn't be as popular as it is. I think it's not fair to judge this game next to buzz because altho the concept is the same, they are still very different rides
