Five days in April

The wife and I were planning on leaving the baby with the grandparents next April and going to Florida for two weeks. Initially, we planned to spend 9 nights and 10 days in the Disney resort, of which two days would be spent going to Universal and Busch Gardens. We were then going to go visit my Aunt in Neptune Beach for a couple days, head home and get back about 2 weeks after we left. However, the baby will be almost a year old by then and my wife was already getting her mama hen "oh I can't leave my baby" gitters. Rather than scrap the whole trip and rather than try to mess with lugging a baby around for two weeks down there, the tentative plan now is to spend a week instead of two weeks. I want to maximize the Disney time, so we'll probably visit my aunt on another trip and, cut out Universal and Busch Gardens. This would have us checking in Monday afternoon/evening April 9 and checking out Sunday April 15. So, five entire days and nights, plus Monday evening. Is that about how much most of you all spend there, and if so, do you feel like you have sufficiently done the place? Last time we spent a couple weeks in Florida and we visited Universal, we were done and back to our motel by 3 or 4 PM. So I wonder if we could visit Universal on one of our Disney days and still get back early enough to spend a reasonable amount of time at a Disney Park without feeling like we "wasted" one of our days.

Just wanted to point out that Easter is April 8th next year. If you can put off your trip one week, it will most likely be less crowded for pushing a stroller around.

Unfortunately, my job prevents that. I work in the election department of the county clerk's office and we will be having an April election on April 3. So that week will definitely be out.

I would love to go earlier, as I think the pricing season changes right about when we are planning to go. I wish we could go a week or so earlier and pay a little less.

We have been the week before and the week after Easter with the week after being less crowded, but you will still have to deal with Spring Breaks from some schools (esp those of us up North). It will be somewhat crowded, but nowhere near as bad as July or August. The weather is nice and you should have a great time.

When we go to WDW we just go to WDW and go to BGTampa on another trip.

Well, I'm trying to sell my wife on splitting our vacation in two like we did last year. Instead of doing one big two weeker like we were gonna do, do a week at Disney in April and then in May, go back down and so Universal Busch Gardens, Sea World and visit my aunt. I enjoy some of those other parks almost as much as Disney. Universal wasn't my favorite of all the Florida theme parks, but my wife enjoyed it and I would really like to go back and do that new Mummy ride. And Busch Gardens has a new roller coaster that I would like to try as well. Sea World, I could pass up this time around, but if we end up doing a second week the following month, I may as well throw that one in, too. :slurp:

Problem is my wife is so picky about when we can go to Florida. She turns her nose up at May because it's too hot. She refuses to go during Hurricaine season, which pretty much rules out June to November. And of course, we all know that just because the calendar says that it is hurricaine season, that means that there will be a hurricaine every week from June to November. LOL Then, since she works at Walmart, the rest of the year is pretty much out because of the busy Christmas season.

I work in the county clerk's office in the voter registration department. The manager of the Driver Services Department comes in here once or twice a week to drop off motor voter apps and he is a huge WDW fan as well. We always talk Disney World and he should have just got back from his latest trip down there. He was staying at Port Orleans, where we plan to stay, so I asked him to take some pictures for me. And today is Wednesday, which is the day he usually drops by. I hope comes in today with some pics for me!

May is actually a really nice time of year to go, as it generally hasn't gotten too hot yet and there are no crowds whatsoever. It's usually in the low 80's with low humidity. It's also so nice to see the Flower & Garden Festival with the accompanying free entertainment at the american garden theatre in Epcot. I highly recommend May.

It's also so nice to see the Flower & Garden Festival with the accompanying free entertainment at the american garden theatre in Epcot. I highly recommend May.

We went on Memorial Day weekend last year and it was really hot and muggy. My wife decided that it was too hot in May to want to go there for a vacation in that month. Of course, I am trying to persuade her of the faultiness of that logic. LOL Just because it was really hot on one day of a particular month, that does not mean that it is that way on every day of that month in every year. Just as you can't assume that it rains every day of the month just because it happens to rain all day long on the particular day that you pick.

Heck we go in July or August! Its always hot & humid, we have never encountered a hurricane (*knocks on wood*). My favorite time to go is in February or March to get away from the snow. I'm trying to work out a holiday trip because I would love to see the World decked out for Christmas.

Flower & Garden, Food & Wine, Halloween or Christmas, hot or cold...whats the difference? Its WDW! :sohappy:
