I'm finding myself getting more and more anxious about our decision to stay at the Poly this time instead of WL. I know it's the unfamiliarity of it: we've come to love WL, and I'm anxious that I won't love Poly :( Please help me see that I'm nuts for even thinking twice about this!!!!!

Both are amazing resorts, but if you take out all the other factors, and just concentrate on construction and refurbishment, the Poly is done and WL is in the midst of it. Best to give the Poly a try while your favorite resort is going through some growing pains.

You're going to have an awesome time!! When do you travel?

Every resort I stay at has become my new favorite. I always want to stay at my 'favorite' but try new resorts to see what they were like. What I have found is something special about every resort. At WL I loved watching the Electrical Water Pagent at night. At BW, I loved people watching and the street performers (hated the clown pool, aaaack!), at OKW, loved to walk the grounds and watch the boats sail by while I sat on my balcony. At AKL, it was great to watch the animals in the nighttime wandering around.

While I am at the resort, I think how I can't wait to come back and explore more things....but then I start to think how great it would be to stay at the Contemporary and see the fireworks, or the Poly or.....

No matter what, you will have a fantastic time and I bet the Poly might become your new favorite resort.

THIS!
Our first trips were to WL and we loved it so much that we didn't really even want to try anywhere else...but then we did and they all were great in their own way. First we tried all of the monorail resorts and lately we've been hooked on the three on the lake between Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We look forward to going back to WL again but AFTER the construction is done. (Our last stay at WL was April 2015 and they were barely getting started with the construction. It was super annoying already at that point.)

I LOVE Poly! Taking the boat to MK is always exciting and the monorail coming right to the resort is so convenient. We have stayed at the Poly 4 times and every time it has been excellent. Make sure to try the volcano water slide and theres even a dole whip stand right beside the pool.

The Poly is my dream resort! I always end up visiting while I'm in WDW for a meal and drinks. It's so so lovely and lively. Deluxes are out of my price range unfortunately so I haven't had the opportunity to stay in any of them. You're very very lucky!

Suppose you had another favorite resort you always stayed at, say POR, and decided to not go to WL because you were unfamiliar with WL and had come to love POR. If that was the case, you would have missed out on WL and would never know if you like it or not.
Yes, you are nuts for worrying about Poly. Go there, enjoy it and have a great trip. If you don't like it as much as WL, so what? You won't ever know if you don't try it.
We are trying to stay at all the different resorts. Part of the fun is trying new places. I would hate to think of some we would have missed out on if we had decided to go to the same place each time.
Oh, and Poly is one of the ones we might have missed out on and are very glad we did not miss it.

The Polynesian has such great and popular restaurants ('Ohana, Kona Cafe, Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show). There is no construction now!:) The longhouses are updated, the pools have been updated, and the new bar Trader Sam's is an experience to remember!:) You will not regret staying at the POLY. The atmosphere is beautiful, and to be able to watch Wishes from the beach is a nice touch!:) Enjoy! Aloha!:)

My family has never stayed a WL, so I can not really comment on it. But, we live in the Ozarks, so the last thing I want to see on vacation is another log cabin looking lodge building....hahaha. But we did stay last summer at Poly and we loved it. It is beautiful and relaxing, though still right in the action. We are all looking forward to staying there again!

I'll bet anything that when you come back youll be reporting how much you loved Poly. It is an extremely beautiful resort and has a lot of plusses that others have already noted. We stayed there years ago and had an enjoyable stay but have since fallen in love with POFQ and havent returned, mostly because of our enjoyment of a smaller resort.

The Poly is a great resorts and its rooms are larger than those at WL. They are the largest regular rooms on property. It is a gorgeous resort, not at all spread out and a very relaxing atmosphere. Easy walk to GF (15-20 min), you can use the resort launch to MK (very nice), it's on the resort monorail and only a 5-10 minute walk to the Epcot monorail. Of course, buses to everywhere else. Most and easiest transportation options available.

Relax folks, you'll love it and no need to cross your fingers.

Definitely first world problem, I can see you posting 3 years from now"we used to stay at WL then we went to Poly and have been staying there ever since.Unfortunately we couldn't get in this year so we are going to GF, I know this sounds bad but I'm freaking out that we made a huge mistake and I won't like it!" Then in another 3 years " we have been staying at GF unfortunately.........." Don,t worry Poly is an awesome resort!
