I would love 30-40 degrees right now... Stop whining

If you work at an outdoor job anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon, the temperature probably wouldn't bother you too much. But if you work indoors, and generally only go out to get from point A to point B, or even just take an hour or so run/walk, it is very different than standing around 7 Seas Lagoon or on Main St for an hour or so waiting for fireworks. Or being on a coaster/ride with the wind blowing on you. Especially if it's dark or overcast, so no warmth from the sun.

Remember this the next time some newbie to WDW asks what the weather is like in Florida in the winter and some.... person.... answers, "Oh, it's in the 60s to the 70s, enjoy!!"

That... person... needs to be told to shut up.

(Actually, don't see that happen much here, but all the time on reddit people never warn visitors that it can indeed be cold in Orlando.)

Am I alone in wanting to pimp slap people that use the internet to ask people what the weather is like in a particular location?

Florida Winter of 1983/84 was colder than this. The high was only in the teens for a few days in a row; my SIL visited WDW and had to wear the clothes (including hat and gloves) that she had worn down from Chicago. A lot of the housing that is in the Orlando area came about because of the failure of so many orange groves that year- the farmers just sold the land off to developers.
I remember something about that time when all the orchards and orange groves were being iced over to try and prevent frost from affecting the fruit. I still don't understand how coating something with ice prevents the fruit from being damaged. Even then wasn't a lot of the loss of those places happen a few years later when the fruit flies took over. If memory serves a lot of orange groves were lost at that time.

I could imagine, I've been working outside all day in this 10- 20 degree weather + windchill and still have a hard time getting from point a-b

i remember staying there in december 7-8 years ago & there was some cold weather. dropped to the 20’s-30’s at night. we’ve gone in december before, but that was the first time we experienced that kind of weather in florida.

I have to defend them for a second. It’s different when you’re accustomed to warmer temps.

For many years I would not travel North of Jupiter Florida in the winter.. this includes Orlando. Even middle Florida was too cold for me.

Now, I’m in Ohio.. Orlando temps look a lot better than they did during my years as a South Floridian.

Even so, I can’t swim in Orlando in November,
Yet I read trip report after trip report where people swim in Orlando and call the weather “hot” during the winter.

All depends on your tolerance and what you’re accustomed to.

I actually had to deal with temps. in the 20's/30s at night at WDW in December of 2010 at WDW. I was at WDW in the late part of November of 2010 and the early part of December 2010. My only mistake was me bringing a fall jacket instead a winter jacket. I am from a Midwest and a fall jacket is good in 40 degree weather, but not in the 20s or 30s.

The weather you are complaining about is great to me in this time of year. On New Years day, it was 6 below zero at 7 in the morning and the high was around 4 to 5 degrees outside where I live.
