First Timer/Honeymooner with questions

So I'm getting married on Saturday and we're headed to WDW on the 26th. This will be my first time at WDW and I've read the Birnbaum guide and Sehlinger's unofficial guide (obsessed with information ) but I have what seems like a million questions.

I've been looking for something that will allow me to keep the key/dining cards, credit cards, ID, and park passes dry. I'm not sure which of these are on the same card, but I wanted something to keep them easy to access (so I don't hold up fastpass lines) and keep them totally dry. I'm one of those visual people, so not having any idea what these passes or cards look like, I could use some ideas. I've heard about the protectors on lanyards, but how are those on the neck after two days of sun? Any other ideas? Info?

:sohappy:I'm so excited about this trip I'm ready to pop and can't think of anything else right now, but I'll keep searching the forums for more tips in the meantime.

First off, congrats on getting married & taking your disney honeymoon!

You can never have too much Disney information - the guide books are really helpful, so are these boards. I like to type up my favorite tips from the books/boards & print them to take w/me. That way I don't have a bulky book to carry through the park, but all my favorite tips are in my purse :)

I think the lanyards are a a great idea. They can be irritating on your neck if your neck gets burnt. Just make sure you wear a lot of sunscreen on your neck and it shouldn't be an issue. You can store the sunscreen in a locker if you don't want to carry it all day.

My other recommendation for keeping things dry is packing small ziplock bags. You can put anything in there- your tickets, camera, cell phone, etc. So if it rains, everything is safe. If it doesn't, the bags store easily in a purse or bag. All the items you mentioned by the way, are about the size of a credit card.

Good luck - have a great trip!

Also, you may not realize this but your room key, dining card, credit, and more are all consolidated on one "credit-card" style room key so that you're not having to juggle a bunch of different stuff.

I know the DVC resorts sell a watertight container on a lanyard. Its just enough larger than your room key (credit card size key) that you can easily fit the card plus other stuff in it. I bought one two weeks ago and kept room key, four APs, credit card, drivers license and at times four Fast Passes. Its watertight as well because it went into the pool with me and no moisture on the inside.

They look like this.

I found it much better than the pouch I bought from passporter that looks similar to this:

Just to reiterate, when you check into your resort your "Key to the World" will be the key to your room, have your park tickets, and your dining plane all on it. You can also add charging privileges (which I suggest) to the card which will mean you could realistically only take your "Key to the World" and ID into the parks.

I also have to say the lanyard works great. If you get one and it begins to start bothering you, simply take it off and stick it into your pocket for awhile. Also, the watertight containers mentioned above are available all over property.

The only thing I would warn against for the standard lanyard that Disney sells with the plastic pouch (soft plastic, not the container pictured below) is that the soft plastic pouch has a bad tendancy to tear off if you are not carefull. I speak from experience. While holding a sleaping child, mine unkowingly tore off with room keys, license, credit card, park tickets inside. Luckily a CM found it and turned it in to guest services.....

This is exactly what I needed. From all the different infomation sources, I couldn't decide is this Key to the World was an "all-in-one" or a "most-in-one". Did I just miss that in one of those books?

Thanks for the pictures hakuna, that's exactly what I needed! I'll be sure to post a picture of Em and I in our bride and groom ears the first day. WOO!

Just something you may want to do....

When checking-in, mention it's your honeymoon (if they haven't already figured out.) The pins they gave us were really sweet. Everyone smiled directly at us the whole trip, and it automatically gave us a point of conversation with every CM, especially servers. It really felt like everyone was going out of their way for us.

Congrats on your marriage and honeymoon!!! I would def opt for the container on the lanyard that is pictured above. They seem great.

Be sure to get your bride and groom mickey hats to wear during the trip!!!

Have fun!

Ten trips ago I found a Front Pocket Wallet from Target. I can keep everything in it. I have mine, my wife, and daughter's IDs & KTTWs and some cash in the money clip. all this fits in one thing and it is in my pocket.

Congratulations on your wedding and honeymoon! As previously mentioned:

- Make sure to tell the CM when you check in that you're on your honeymoon. If possible, call Central Reservations and have it added to your reservation. Sometimes this helps with Dining Reservations
- Tell every server that you're on your honeymoon
- Get a "Honeymoon" button (upon check-in)
- Get bride-and-groom Mouse Ears, and wear them everywhere ;)

We honeymooned there in 2000. An unforgettable experience!

A pack, along with the aforementioned water-proof container, would be ideal for the parks. Since you'll be there in the summer, it cannot be stressed or repeated enough to drink lots of water, use sunscreen, wear a hat, and wear comfortable shoes.
