First time September visit

Hi Everyone! First time visiting WDW in September and was wondering if anyone could give me some insights from the wdwmagic experts on crowd levels, weather and any other fun facts you have! In the psat we have always gone in early March (2-3 weeks before Easter) so we are used to moderate/high crowds. Thanks!

We have gone late September, early October for years now and we love it. There do seem to be a lot of locals, hotels and pools seems crowded but parks not so much. Last year was humid, hot and rainy a few days. However, overall, I think it is a good time to go, Enjoy!

We've been going in September the last few trips and we'll be there again this year. We love that the lines aren't as long since the kids are back in school. The only thing that got to us was the almost 100% humidity at 7:30 AM. We're from PA and just not used to that. As the previous posters said make sure you drink plenty and be ready for rain. It usually doesn't last too long (barring a hurricane).

Was there mid to end of sept 2012. Crowds seemed big but lines were walk on for most rides. It rained a little ( year before in aug was a near wash out) was hot but not as hot as August. Honestly it was near perfect.

This year will be our first September trip.

We will be there from Aug 31st to 13th Sept and I'm keen to know what to expect.

Most comments on this forum are from people who have travelled mid to late Sept so I'd appreciate any feedback on early Sept.

I'm hoping wait times will be low (maybe some of the lowest of the year) and there won't be masses of tour groups!

I'm prepared for the heat and the high chance of torrential rain but are there any other things we should be aware of?

For years we took our annual trip in Sept. We would fly in the Wed after Labor day. There were no crowds, most rides were walkon or 10-15 min wait. It is still very hot and humid, but you get low crowds and the parks still stay open pretty late. Great time to go. We would still go that time of year but the kids are too old to miss school now.

Hey there,
Since September has free dining, expect larger crowds then the reported "slow" time to go. It still way better then over the holidays and the summer, its not bad, but more people then I expected. I would guess, they will be less then what you have experienced in the past in March. As for weather, it rains. Not the summer rain b/c its hot in Florida and its a mid afternoon down pour, i'm talking its the rainy season and it will rain and it will rain ... a lot. We actually got rained out 2 days and 2 nights. If you give me the exact dates, I can look up on touring plans for the exact crowd level.

We're usually at WDW in the first two weeks because we like celebrating our anniversary there. The only time we encountered long lines was when we went on the big rides (Soarin', Toy Story Mania, RNRC). Since my husband can't go on the thrill rides, I was able to use Single Rider when available and that cut down my waits for Everest and Test Track (otherwise those lines were on the longer side also). The weather is usually beautiful. Warm yes (okay sometimes it was downright hot) and humid, but that's only because the Northeast is starting to cool down a little by then. Get your dinner reservations soon if you are planning sit down meals because some places are already booking out (BOG for example). It's a wonderful time to go down to Orlando. Enjoy!

I was there September 23-28 2012. I usually only ever go in November. It was HOT! Crowds were a little heavy, but not nearly as bad as summer and holidays... I was still a little shocked at how busy it was in September! I thought most people would not take their kids out of school so early in the school year. But we never waited long for any ride because we tour the parks and utilized fast passes well. I didn't mind the crowds, but I love November weather.. it is just much more comfortable when hitting the parks. Like someone else, I don't think there really is a "slow" period anymore. I heard the very first week of Sept is great though.

We're swapping this year to September from what was an annual December trip just because they've cut back so much on the Christmas decorations. We like warm weather better than cold so that helps as well.

I grew up in Fl and still found the weather to be oppressively hot when we went in sept. Make sure to utilize all of the AC positive attractions ..lol .. And keep the water flowing. Must must must pace yourselves.

Very hot, very humid, often afternoon/evening thunderstorms, crowded. And, Yes, Brazilians.

But still...fun to be had. I'd use a good plan and highly recommend touringplans.com for theirs. :)

We need time for things to happen.
I'm surprised to hear there being tour groups in September. We only went one time in late September early October and didn't see not a one.

I seem to recall the BTG months to be the first part of the year and a couple of months in early summer.
Am I remembering that wrong?

That was once the case. Disney is actively recruiting them and they come more often now. But they're getting better behaved. :) Trying to schedule around them is much more difficult now, but since they're getting better with behavior, it's not as much of a problem.
