First Time Disney; Suggestions?

It's funny how when you don't like doing rides, you tend to do them @ WDW (at least for me anyway!). I don't know if I have a fear of the maintenance (or lack thereof) at a carnival but trust it 100% in WDW or if I am just so happy that I don't think too much about it.

My brother, who has never traveled anywhere more than 150 miles away from home before, went to WDW with my wife and I earlier this month. We went to the E-ride night on 8/11 and didn't think my brother would join us for the 3 mountains. But sure enough, as long as he didn't have to sit in the front, he didn't mind. He went on Space (I sat up front), Splash (me upfront again - and very uncomfortable with my long legs jammed under the front of the log) and Thunder Mountain (all of us in the middle). And guess what, he enjoyed them and said they weren't bad at all. On the other hand, he says he won't fly anywhere anytime soon so go figure.

You will love it! I agree with the advice to buy a guide book, in particular the big Unofficial Guide for the cut out touring plans in the back. This way you won't feel the need to bring it to the park (it's big). September is a great time to visit as it's considered off season, so you won't encounter as long of a line as you would in summer. If you have time, try the Hoop De Doo Music Revue. It's a dinner show held at Fort Wilderness, reservations a must, it's a real hoot! Enjoy.

Real quick must do'ss as a couple...

-Make reservations at the California Grille (top of Contempory Hotel) make sure you ask for a fireworks night- it over looks Magic Kingdom.
-If you can afford it, "Victor & Alberts'" at Grand Floridan is exquiste & romantic, a 5 star restaurant.
- Rent "Mouse Boats" at the Grand Floridan, either you can share one or each get your own (which is more fun) you can travel thorughout all Disney's waters on your own. If you have a "wish list" as part of your package- this is a must to do. Otherwise, I don't think it's too much $, well worth it.
-HIt "Pleasure Island" and "Disney Boardwalk" each night- no kids, lots of fun!

Went on my honeymoon at WDW (12/01) so I know what's cool, if you don';t do rides (UGH)- most are no worry w/ the exception of Tower of Terror and Rockin' roller coster- the rest are a brezze. Spalash Moutain has a huge drop, but over in 2 seconds.
Have fun. Also all the CM's will help you w/ anything if you tell them it's your first time, and indicate what your looking for. Everyone is ssssssssoooooooo helpful and friendly!

Beverly wasn't actually too bad...
Comparing all the others, there was no clear-cut winner. They all were not something I would pay to buy on a regular basis, even Smart Watermelon. (I like Coke and Sprite and that's about it with a grape or orange soda thrown in every once in a while)

Add 50's Prime Time Cafe in MGM to that list of restaurants posted. The first time I went to WDW I was not a ride person. I did a lot of things anyway and didn't regret it. The things I would NOT recommend if you don't like rides are any of the mountains. Big Thunder, Splash and Space in Magic Kingdom, Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom, Misssion Space and Test Track in Epcot and Tower of Terror in MGM. Have a great time !
