First they came for the guacamole...

So I just checked and the rumor I read elsewhere is true: in addition to having previously removed lettuce and cheese sauce from its fixins buffet, Pecos Bill's no longer offers guacamole on the buffet either. Instead, you have the privilege of paying $2 for a paltry Tablespoonful, as an add-on to your meal.

I freely admit that this is a petty thing to gripe about, but enjoying a fajita platter slathered in that green goodness was one of the great gustatory joys of a WDW trip for me. Also (and this is why I'm posting about it -- it's not really just about a condiment, lest you all think I'm the Tex-Mex version of Katiebug) it's a troubling reflection of a bigger issue: that little bit of avocado-flavored generosity was one of the last things keeping me from feeling like WDW is out to nickel-and-dime me in every possible way. DH and I literally used to joke when talking about price increases and amenity decreases, "well, at least there's always the guacamole!"

I guess we'll have to find a new way to reconcile ourselves to the rising costs -- and also find a new lunch destination in the MK (that is, if I don't just decide to bring my own bagged lunch consisting of a gallon of homemade guac, which I will eat defiantly in the doorway of Pecos Bill's as my own deranged form of protest). Recommendations are welcome! :)

Well thats disappointing but I can understand why. Everywhere else (chipotle, moes) charges an arm and a leg for a tiny scoop of guac. It for sure was my favorite thing about Pecos. Slathering on the guac and lettuce to make my fajita ginormous. Not sure if I'll still go here or find a different QS in MK.

Hmmm... they removed it sometime around January, and now it's back. I wonder if it was returned in response to customer complaints! Perhaps if I complain enough about the guacamole rationing... ;)
i passed on the lettuce because my wife got some, and my fajita plate was already quite full, but maybe. I would of loved Guac, but i wasnt paying disneys magical price for it.

I think you should add that to your avatar, or Signature at least!

Despite the fact I can't stand the stuff, I would be happy to join you in a mass guacamole sit-in protest! It could get messy though ...... !

I guess they caught on to the people who bring in tortillas from the outside and use the fixins bar to create meals. I saw a whole family basically feed themselves that way.
Thats ridiculous but doesn't surprise me..I watched a guy at the all stars when the first released the RIFD mugs with 4-5 mugs from the Grand Floridian trying to fill them up. Swearing at the machine and storming off to the registers I couldn't stop laughing I probably should've told him though to save the poor CM from him.:banghead:

I keep waiting for them to eliminate coolers/outside food all together. I've seen some pretty amazing meal prep that people bring in. Truth be told we generally only bring drinks like water or Powerade but I know plenty of families who can only afford a trip because they pack their own food. I really hope this isn't one step closer to that 😞

We often bring In snacks. We didn't this last time because we had dining plan, but I'd riot if they limited outside food.

I recall a time when they DID restrict outside food. I'm not sure why, but gradually, over time, they relaxed that restriction.

If movie theaters can do it, a theme park can too...

I have no clue why they would eliminate lettuce (whhhhaaaatt???), but guacamole is understandable, since there has been an avocado shortage in recent months:

As for the fake chemical cheese-like substance, even if it was delicious, our bodies will thank us later in life than it is gone.
Yeah, it is not a surprise with the cost of Avocados and I'm sure people abused it too....
