It just doesn't hit me that I'm in The World til I'm walking up to the entrance gate at MK :D

Oh, yeah...... same here. And the feeling... seeing the castle.... I feel like I am getting home after a year out. That's why I took a very nice shot of the Castle on a beautiful day, and put it as my desktop background. This way I can see "home" every day.

We head to MK an hour before sunset

we get there we walk right down the middle of Main Street USA.

We go straight to Crystal Palace for our evening Reservations

We get a table with a window view and watch the castle change colors.

After Dinner we head straight to It's a Small World and that starts our Vacation.

    I wish I was there right now..... (I mean after the T.S. goes through)

We drive down and once checked in go to Chef Mickey's! The next day (first full day) we like to go to MK as others have stated!

My husband and I always take the first day of our trip (the day we arrive -- not the first morning) and do what we call "Disney for Free" day. We ride the monorail, go to as many resorts as possible, take a walk on the beach at the Poly and end our evening with drinks at either the Boardwalk (Bel Vue Room) or Grand Floridian. This always gets us extra excited for our first full Disney day which is either spent at MK (always ride Space Mountain first -- always) or Epcot (always ride SE first).

We are also going to Chef Mickey's for dinner to start our vacation! I think that we will pull in about 3:00 pm and after getting settled, we have 6:00 pm reservations for dinner.

Since it will not cost very much to add an additional day on our Magic Your Way tickets, we may actually go from Chef Mickey's to the Magic Kingdom just to see Spectromagic. This idea prompts two questions:

1) Is this worth it to go to Magic Kingdome on the arrival day just to catch a parade? We probably don't want to stay for Wishes, because we have small children who need to get a good night's rest for our first FULL day.

2) What is the time limit to park at the Contemporary Resort for Chef Mickey's? I know it not permitted to use another resort's parking for a whole day at the park, but I think that we would only be there for about three hours. Would this be OK or would I need to think up other transportation arrangements?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

We won't be getting into the "world" until after lunch our first day. Right now our plans are to drop off our bags at the hotel then head to the swimming pool. We will either eat at the food court or at Downtown Disney. That's what we did last time we went. It gave us a little down time after the long drive. And we don't want to waste a day on our tickets.

It has been a tradition for the last 12 trips of ours to go first to the Magic Kingdom and start riding rides in Adventureland. Later that night we go to Epcot and watch Illuminations. It has been the same routine for a long time. Does anyone else do something like this on their first day?

"...Wishes...Dreams...Magic..."

That is our exact tradition except it's Fantasyland! We always go to the MK first and head straight in.

I'm sure this is a pretty common one since it's the "main" park and if you head straight that's pretty much where you end up!

okay.. didn't I hear some one say...

On one of the forums didn't I hear some one say that Disney doesn't charge you after a certain time of the day? Like if you get there about an hour or less before closing?

Let me know about this situation.. thanks bjlc

I don't know about the "not charging" thing, but adding an additional day to your Magic Your Way tickets is pretty inexpensive once you get beyond five or six days.

Never heard of that..but doubt it. We have family down every year 2nd week of July for 3 weeks before kids go back to school.1st place my sister-in law goes is Aloha Isle for her Dole Whip.:slurp: My wifes brother actually has to drop her and our nieces off at the TTC right from the airport before HE heads to the hotel to check in
