Fire Mountain

Is there a definitive answer as to whether or not the Ariel in Peter Pan's Flight is intentional, came first, was added later, etc? It's something I've always wondered and as my first trip was 1988 (after the movie was released) and I was you know, two years old, I cannot remember. And my parents can't remember either. I'd love an answer to this one.
So sorry for the off topic.

I remember reading somewhere that the original mermaids in the ride were naked. After a refurb came about one of the mermaids was painted to look like Ariel. This story is a little hazy to me, but I believe that the story went something similar to the one I mentioned. I always had a hard time believing that the mermaids would have ever been topless in the first place, but who knows, maybe it was done all artistically and what not.

I probably shouldn't answer this question since I haven't seen Peter Pan in quite some time, but I was TOLD that there's a mermaid in the movie that looks similar to Ariel. This mermaid was recreated for the ride, and then Ariel was roughly modeled after her. Someone else can give you a better answer, I'm sure.

Of course, I'm lying. cb3k gave you the actual story.
Haha...I hope we are not fired from the world for giving away such a highly guarded "coming of age" tale...or tail (as in a mermaid "tail"). ohhhhh It's been a long day, I think I am going to hang it up after that one.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, been traveling…

[Let's look at the number 2, 3 and 4 parks on the list. DL, Tokyo DL and Tokyo DS are all over 12,000,000. DisneySea is 5 years old and it's kicking a__. Why? Investment! Their not sitting there saying "It doesn't need anything", they’ve been dumping capitol into all three of these parks and the results show. MK is the only anomaly.]

[First, dude, use the quote tags. It makes it SOO much easier to read. Thanks. You use do [ quote ] text here [ /quote ] without the spaces between the [ ] and quote]

>> Hope the [ ] help.

[Second. You CANNOT use Tokyo parks in any monetary argument. Oriental Land Company pays for basically everything over there, so they are in another league in terms of available capital for whatever they want to do.]

>> I am comparing parks and Tokyo has 2 parks. Further Tokyo makes money because of its quality and quantity of attractions, so I certainly CAN use it in a monetary discussion.

[Third, DL was in terrible shape as well up until the 50th. And the 50th was a lot of the same TLC that MK is getting now. Major refurbs of the classics. DL has not received anything new, really, either. The subs yes, but what was before that as a totally new attraction? Buzz and Pooh, and thats less than the MK has had, with Philharmagic.]

>> No disagreement, keep it referbed. My point however, remains: DL gets a huge base of APs due to its variety of attractions. DL blows away MK in quantity of E-Tickets (quality too, for the most part).

[Yes, the MK has less attractions than DL. But if DL had the same blessing of space that WDW has, there would be at least three parks there too, and the rides would be spread out there as well.]

>> Glad to see your acknowledgment. You don’t seem to get my point: MK not only has less (due to your theory of having more space I guess), but actually has -1 E-Ticket growth since Splash Mountain and -1 boat ride too (Swan Boats). Evert thing else at MK has been a replacement of something already there. Any fool can see that -1 E-Ticket growth since 1982 is pretty pathetic.

-1 since 1982? How's that again? I'd consider Splash Mountain an e-ticket, and Buzz Lightyear is closer to an e-ticket than 20K (much as I loved submarine voyage) would be today.

My apologies.

I was refering to Splash being the last E Ticket and missed the date. It's still 15 years ago.

Buzz is not an E-Ticket. No way. C yes, weak D if you insist. Since Walt decided the subs were an E-Ticket, I can live with that....
