Fire in Anaheim Hills causing Smoke at Disneyland

It's bad up here in Northern California as well, I live in the wine country and so many friends and families of mine has lost homes :(. Hope Disneyland is safe!
Disneyland is no were near areas of brush fires. Disneyland is in the middle of miles of concrete with no natural areas anywhere near it. Any fires that happen would have to happen on property. It would take a nuclear blast or a large earthquake to destroy Disneyland.

Two of those tankers were stationed here in Helena MT most all summer dropping on our 1Million + acres of fire. We looked like you guys all summer, SMOKEY!!!. Tanker 910 has been removed from service according to the crew that was here this summer and also wiki. Very impressive when in use.

Yes, aren't they wonderful?! The fleet is based out of Victorville, California just north of Los Angeles but can be quickly contracted out to other states and countries when needed, from Texas to Oregon to Australia. They are retrofitted civilian jetliners that used to fly for Pan American back in the 1980's.

Nope, Disneyland hasn't cancelled fireworks or made any operational changes. This is miles away from Disneyland and has no impact on fireworks or theme park business, nor could any fireworks have any impact on the brush fire up in the hills. Disneyland has a Halloween Screams fireworks show scheduled for tonight at 9:45.

Disneyland did cancel RDCT last night. Not necessarily due to the fire. The official reason was wind.

I assume that Disneyland has canceled any fireworks for the time being. Anyone able to confirm.

Prayers for those in the affected areas.
Fireworks were canceled on Monday due to the fire. Live announcements began around 5pm (not the Voice of Disneyland). The standard recorded wind announcement came just prior to show time.

And it was really blowing last night too!

Winds have noticeably calmed today, and the direction just switched about an hour ago here in Villa Park. Light wind at 3mph coming from the SW right now, instead of the 35mph gusts from the NE we had yesterday at this time.

The fire situation up and down the state is dire, especially north of SF where approximately 15 fires are burning out of control and 20,000 people have been evacuated and at least 17people have died. The air here in SF has been thick with since yesterday.

On a lighter note Time Magazine published a video compilation of visitor clips of the smoke tinged orange skies above Disneyland this week.

Is it bad down there in SF? I cannot breath up here, I'm right by Napa and you can't see anything it's so smokey and thick. Ash the size of quarters is raining down. I may have to evacuate soon, the fire is not looking good and it's getting worse :(.

Wish you all the best. I got evacuated once when living in San Diego, my property was next to an open canyon in Tierrasanta. We were lucky, but others weren't. Ended up at a Motel 6 in El Cajon for a few days before being allowed home.

So be ready and prepared to get out of Dodge.

Oh I'm so sorry to here that. I woke up early Monday morning with scratchy itchy eyes and a cough (I sleep with my windows open). It's a little better now, but the air remains brown, hazy, and smells like smoke. I hope things change soon. Keep us posted on your situation.

Let me point out that everyone should be prepared and plan ahead not just for Fires, but Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Tornados, etc.

I have a go bag that is always packed.

Enough food and water for my family for a few weeks. (And they know not to touch those cases of bottled water).

Have important papers together and ready to grab.

And in this age, off site backups for computers, including family photos.

The fireworks were cancelled Monday night due to high winds (which caused the fires to begin with). The Halloween Screams fireworks performed on time on Tuesday night, as the wind flipped early this morning and then became the typical light seabreeze instead of the howling desert Santa Anas.

I'll second that wise reminder from Darkbeer!

I have a go bag in case of wildfire, but also water and food for two weeks, a backup electricity generator, propane for cooking for two weeks, a firearm and my basic rifleman skills, and lots of flashlights and candles and matches, and fire extinguishers in several places in the house and every vehicle. Plus a battery operated radio.

These are just basic things that any adult should have when you live in Earthquake Country. When the San Andreas or Newport fault rips open with a 7.5, we'll be without power and water for weeks, if not months. It will take at least a week, likely two, for state and federal authorities in cooperation with private industry to begin setting up a basic food and water distribution system for millions of people. And I have one vehicle that never goes below 3/4 tank of gas that can get me to Phoenix or San Jose before a gas station.

We are scheduled to fly tomorrow to Southern CA and staying near Knotts. Flying in and out of Burbank. To those in the know, is it still safe to do so? We live in Salt Lake and are used to wild fire smoke but I don't want to take chances.

There is no problem. You would be almost 20 miles away from any fire.

YES. I live 3 miles from Knott's (Draw a line from Knott's and Disneyland as the crow flies, and I am in the middle of the path.

Worst day was Monday with smoke and ash. Fire has died down and the winds sre blowing in a different direction.

So nothing to worry about, except the monsters at Knott's Haunt and all the folks at the Hanging.

According to a report from the Orange County Register this morning, the firefighters we able to increase the containment to 40% thanks to weather from yesterday. They expect full containment by Saturday.

Two of my reasons for visiting! My weekend: Knotts on Thursday for the Haunt, Universal on Friday for HHN, Whale Watching on Saturday and Sunday at DL. I've been planning this weekend with my son for months so I'm glad it's still a go. Thanks.
