Fire at Magic Kingdom

It makes sense in a perfectly normal world but is quite egregious and miscalculated for Disney. Obviously not saying show over safety means letting people die or things burn in lieu of preserving the magic (makes me think of that South Park episode OLD TIME VILLAGE) but there were better protocols to handle this I'm sure
So….in your opinion, how should this have been handled?

From fireworks that hadn't yet gone off? NYP doesn't even try to make sense of stuff before they post.
NY Post isn't always on point but perhaps the story on what the reporters heard later in the evening had to go to press to get the paper out in the morning.

Near as I can tell, the only disadvantage to the way this was handled is that people had to move to the side and saw fire trucks driving down Main Street. Uh... so what? I mean, literally, who cares? No matter how much you like the Disney bubble, no one actually believes they are stepping into some other world or leaving the world behind when they enter Magic Kingdom. Stuff happens. When there is a safety issue, "show" is completely irrelevant and unimportant. I guarantee you not one single guest's vacation was negatively impacted by the fact that some fire trucks rolled down Main Street one afternoon.

Probably not great that they had to roll down Main Street after dark with so many people in the parks. Just a good thing it wasn't time for fireworks. I'm not sure even Moses could part that crowd.

You've clearly never worked a Guest Relations window. The things that "ruin vacations" are absolutely incredible sometimes.

Cinderella Castle evacuated after small fire at Disney World

December 15, 2021, 9:07 AM
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla (AP) — A small fire at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Tuesday may have sprouted from a tree, according to Reedy Creek fire officials.

WESH-TV reports that officials say the fire near Cinderella Castle could have been caused by debris from the classic fireworks show set off at the castle. The castle and surrounding areas were evacuated.

In a “very unusual occurrence,” Walt Disney World staff escorted the first responder trucks down Main Street, said Reedy Creek Fire Association president Jon Shirey.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, according to Disney.

The only injury was a person who accidentally inhaled the chemicals from a chemical fire extinguisher used by the fire department, Shirey said. That person was treated at the scene.
