Finally...a Star Tours update?

I'm sure going to digital would save money in the long run--no replacement of film during rehabs. Going along with the Star Wars area in MGM, just imagine eating in the Mos Eisley cantina!

There was also some tension associated with Alien Encounter, but nothing major.

What kind of tension was there Lee? Are you talking about the production of the show or the removal of it?

On topic, I think we all would like to see a new Star Tours film. Hopefully we will see one in the next 10 years.

George Lucas had nothing to do with Alien Encounter besides his name being on the attraction's sign.

That's what I thought. That's why I was curious to see what kind of tension Lee was talking about.

i am almost 100 % certain that nothing can be derived from this... those signs are OLD OLD OLD! They've been running at wdw for at least three years now (first time i noticed them) and probably were installed in teh very early days of the ride... it jsut took time for people to start noticeing. That news is OLD news... It's just a cute little part of "the show." Sorry folks.

I agree, that message has been there for a long time. Since around the release of episode 1.

Industrial Light and Magic (one of Lucas' many companies) did all the effects and video work for the attraction, minus the "live" events such as the seat shaking, etc.

In a way, that was part of the problem. When AE was being developed, which was at the same time that Indy was in development for DL, Lucas was brought in to produce the show.

Something happened, I don't know exactly what, that caused Lucas to pull back from Alien Encounter after the first few meetings. ILM still worked on the project, but Lucas turned his full attention to Indy and Star Wars.

I used the "tension" in regards to AE when talking about Lucas and Disney, because that is the way it was described to me. No details, but along the lines of "Lucas may still be mad about Alien Encounter".

I don't know if there is room but why not have a Star Wars pavilion?

New attraction (family type thrill like the current). An eatery themed to the Mos Eisley Cantina, and a kids playground area where they could climb in and out of the ships and interact with droids. A separate meet and greet with an Xwing as a backdrop.
