Finally...a Star Tours update?

Star Tours definitely needs an update, it has been running (successfully) on the same format now for years and is getting a bit dated. Lets hope that with the release of Episode III Disney finds some money in the pot to update the attraction.

That link is a Disneyland only website. However, I hope they do update WDW's Star Tours. I'm a huge SW fan and I didn't even go on the ride when I was there last week.

finally................... i can now have something to look forward to with that attraction. hopefully, (grizz, sorry, no pun intended) but i hope that some sort of new "screen technology" will be added to the ride vehicle at WDW, it is pretty bad compared to new screens/ technology.

That same text, as shown in the photograph on the story, is also running at the WDW Star Tours. I noticed it last month, but really didn't think much of it at the time.

I did realize that it was a Disneyland website, but figured if they updating the attraction there, then Florida would be updated, as well. My fear is that too much is being made of the message, and someone is interpreting it the wrong way.

Actually, that is exactly the case.

Nothing new on the near horizon for Star Tours, as far as I can find out.

Where do Disney and Lucas satnd at the moment? If I recall they had a bit of a fall out (not as bad as Pixar) but there were some `differences` between Eisner and Lucas?

Lucas' issue is not with Eisner, as a person, but rather his reluctance to spend the money to do what Lucas wants to do with Star Tours.
There was also some tension associated with Alien Encounter, but nothing major.
As soon as he is approached with a budget that he can work with....that is when we will see Star Tours upgraded.

Lucas is a big Disney park fan, in fact he and his children visit them fairly often.

Maybe once Episode 3 is released and Eisner or the new CEO finally give some money to the project we will have a new and improved Star tours. I don't just want a new film. The vehicles and queue need to be upgraded too.

That was my impression as well. It's more a "themeing" thing than a hint of things to come.

i am almost 100 % certain that nothing can be derived from this... those signs are OLD OLD OLD! They've been running at wdw for at least three years now (first time i noticed them) and probably were installed in teh very early days of the ride... it jsut took time for people to start noticeing. That news is OLD news... It's just a cute little part of "the show." Sorry folks.

I saw those lines when I was there back in May. The reason I saw it was because the queue actually long and I started paying attention to things that I haven't seen before. I just thought it was always there. However, I did think about how cool it would be to have randomly selected destinations in each simulator when I saw it.

I'd rather they save the $$$ for a completely NEW Star Wars attraction. With the technology available, the mind boggles at what they could do these days.

I'd like to see that whole area of the park a "Star Wars themed area". Change the restuarant to SW as well :D

WDW or Disneyland?

I could see a George Lucas Land at Disney MGM. And if that were to happen, I would like to see a THX attraction.

But, if Star Tours does get updated, it could be a godsend. I just wish that the robot was a better driver.

If the Star Wars trilogy was visually enhanced and restored by Lowry Digital for their DVD release, I can't why the movie from Star Tours don't. It's the least they can do!

as long as they dont use scenes from episodes 1 and 2, then im alright with an upgrade. i dont know about anyone else, but i hated both movies and think that they ruin the trilogy. (episode 1 was alright)

They need to do more than enhance the movie...they need to make it digital in the first place.
Sadly, the movie is on film (Remember film folks? From back in the 80's?) which actually runs across the rear of the pods, down to the front, and through a projector. Very odd thing to see.

This is part of the dispute with Lucas. He wants any upgrades to include going from film to pure digital audio and video. This would require a near total redesign of the system...very pricey.
