Final decision for refurb

For quite awhile I have been hearing about Test Track being closed for a lengthy refurb starting early 2012. I just checked the WDW website and it still does not say anything about TT being closed, so I'm wondering- How far out will they announce this? We will be there the first week of Feb. so if they haven't announced it by now is it not happening?

Is there a "deadline" for announcing big refurbs like this?

Last I heard, it could be an April to September timeframe. It was originally January but it got bumped.

Yep. Now likely to start just after the Easter crowds leave.

YAY!! Thank You Marni1971 and Lee!! You two are both my new heroes! This is excellent news!! :sohappy::sohappy: This is my son's absolute favorite ride and he would not have been a happy camper if it was closed!

So they are saving three or four weeks of Easter vacation crowds in order to sacrifice 3 full months of an entire and very busy summer season? :veryconfu

Seems like a very odd way to schedule a refurb of a major thrill ride in a major theme park that only has two (2) thrill rides, especially at a Disney property that doesn't like to schedule regular refurbishments for fear of ruining millions of vacations by tourists who absolutely have to have every single attraction operating during their visit. :lookaroun

Really? 6 months, 6, as in, half the year, is not enough time to get anything significant done?

April until September sounds more like four months, or four and a half maybe if they start the second week of April.

We'll need to see the actual refurb dates first. If it's April 1st to September 30then it's six months, if it's April 28th to September 1st then it's four months.

Appears that Chevrolet will be the new sponsored theme. Google it and you can see some speculations; also appears to be down from April 15 to September 21 (rumored). It will be interesting to see what transpires. Sure hope they keep the showroom (on exit) intact.
