Figment's Place?

:: gives Grizz a standing ovation ::

Those pics just brought back soooooooo many memories!

Image Works was one of my gave places to visit when I went to Epcot int he old days. I could've spent half the day up there or riding the ride. I was always trying to find the Dreamfinder/Figment walkaround character too because I just adored Figment (still do... he's my 3rd all-time fave Disney character after Tigger & Goofy) and Dreamfinder kinda reminded me of a red-haired (and skinnier) Santa Claus.

I wanna join the D-Army. Where do I sign up?

Thank you so much Grizz!!! I now get so much more of why people complained so much about Imagination being redone. That whole attraction looks very impressive and great fun from the websites you directed me to and the pictures you linked to. I'm sad that I never got to see it in person. There were even real switchbacks for people to stand in line, the one thing I've always thought about Imagination is that it's entry is most definitely not very inviting. It almost looks like you're not really supposed to go back there. There's nothing to indicate there's a ride back there just a bunch of blank walls. Feels like maybe a cast members only lounge should be at the end of that hallway or something. Definitely sounds like it'd be expensive to put it all back the way it was so guess we can only hope that they improve it in the future.

Oh Grizz, the queue photo (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v164/grixx/2-q-1.jpg) just makes me want to cry. It's amazing how vividly I remember that. So many changes around the park over the last 20 years I've been going to Disney and nothing, and I do mean nothing sticks in my head as much as Imagination still does. To say that it left an impression me as a child is an understatment of the century. I remember standing in line for Imagaintion for well over an hour (those queues would be FULL!) and I'd still be happy to be riding the ride. And the amazingness of the one time, late in the evening, that it was almost empty and we just ran - literally ran! - through the corrals. Oh, it was so cool.

Let's not even get into the amazingness that was the Image Works, how much time I spend, hands-on exploring all the different exhibits, how much fun I had there, both me and me and my mom together, or how great it was as a kid to be "in" the movie with a group of other kids.

Ugh, it breaks my heart. It's painful I tell you when I think about how I'll never see it again. Something that touched me so much as a child, for so many years and was the utter highlight of Epcot for me, gone. It's so sad.

I miss the old queue area too. I loved the colours. It was so open and bright and... happy. It was beautiful in there. I loved the blues and purples. Felt like I was up in the sky before I even stepped into a ride vehicle.

I wish I could see those "movies" of Figment living out his little "fantasies" again... cowboy (on the rocking/stick horse... that cracked me up every time), sailor, weight lifter... those were absolutely BRILLIANT! I could've watched those all day. Grizz, didn't you mention before that Disney made some Figment educational videos for schools and you were trying to get your hands on copies? What's the status of that?

This will more than likely be a walk up to Figment, get a photo taken, and pay.

Something much more courteous (and beneficial) to guests would be the return of The Dreamfinder with (animated) Figment versus an oversized Figment. . .

(It would be a memorable experience versus a quick money-making tool, but Disney just doesn't seem to care. . . )

This would be the only thing I would accept. I actually remember Dreamfinder walking out around Imagination from when I went when I was 3.

Aimster, if you have AIM, I can hook you up with some videos from the original ride.

I do. I'm on there as aimster7609. I've seen the videos over on the Figment's Imagination site and it brought back lots of memories.

For only being on that ride a hand full of times I remember everything about it. The one thing I miss the most is the smell of lavender that seemed to be pumped at you the full attraction. Also that had to be the first attraction to take a pic of you......you know if they would have just added a chance to buy that at the end they could have payed for the attraction forever LOL.

The thing I miss most was the opening sequence with the ORIGINAL theme song by the Sherman Brothers. I've never seen the description before of how the turntables worked (always reminded me a little bit of COP over at Magic Kingdom. But I really do miss the original opening musical number.

This entire thread has inspired me. Wth the change in powers coming in 06' and the power of a mass of people behind our cause we may be able to get this ride back to an acceptable level. I mean we already did it once with the second version. We have to stand up for mediocracy. Remember it would only take "One Little Spark" and maybe just maybe it will grow into as large of a cause as did the first time did. But than again I have been wrong in the past. So instead of sitting by and doing nothing lets take a stand it's the least we can do if we don't want dreamfinder to be RIP.

All this talk about Image Works makes me sad. My best memory of it was wanting to run up the stairs and take the elevator down. To this day I have no clue why it had to be that way. When I'm in Imagination now I'll just stand at the bottom of the steps looking up as if something is gonna change. I want so bad to go up there and just explore. I've seen some pictures on magic before but does anyone else have any of the old and great Image Works? I love to see some more. Thanks.

I'd love to see more pics of the old Image Works again too. Best interactive playground EVAH!

Oh and Grizz... thanks for the videos you sent me this past weekend! I watch them last night and I just wanted to cry remembering how gorgeous the inside of that pavillion used to be.
