This probably doesn't mean much of anything because she was just a cast member, but I mentioned the Figment movie around a CM while buying a Coke and how I thought it might have been cancelled and the CM said "no, I think it's coming out next year". So I think it's just not done yet. Not cancelled. It takes time to make movies.

It was never said the movie was cancelled, though. A lot of people (including myself, admittedly) thought it had been.

Lol @ having all these high level leaders, and they can't put a basic 2 and 2 together about why investors asked about Figment in 15 annual shareholder meetings. Investors aren't bringing him up this much because they personally like the character (shareholders personally like a lot of Disney content), but as investors they see him as an undervalued asset/IP that isn't being optimized, and they are asking why they aren't using this asset to increase their value. Why they aren't investing in making a better ride to gain new fans or making more outside media/rides to take his presence national or international when they know he's a proven seller and has an untapped market. They'd say the same if a major film isn't getting park exposure either.

Shareholders directly telling them for 20 years about him being undervalued and they still tried removing him in the 2010s, and then shareholders being proven right in the 2020s just has Iger pump merch without any other investment. Makes me laugh though how they still don't get it when even the ones they report to are telling them this and are proven correct.

Yeah it seems they just want to push Figment already even though many people don't know who he is unless they live in Florida (or in cities that are close to Orlando: Savannah, Valdosta, Brunswick GA)

I mean, truth is, nobody knew him prior (as it should be) whenever any of us experienced or saw the original ride anywhere for the first time. That’s kind of the point, introducing a new character and concept. Just like every other classic atttraction we like (whether that be Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Spaceship Earth, etc.) We fell in love with Dreamfinder & Figment ‘because’ we experienced the whimsical, charming, and fun Journey Into Imagination ride. The art of discovery & love/appreciation afterwards is part of the whole process of why we all fell in love.. not because we knew them prior. Just as it is watching a new Disney film w characters or stories we haven’t seen before. The same amount of creativity that goes into making their new films, much of that goes into their theme park attractions aswell. It just baffles me this is such a hard concept for folks up top to understand sometimes.

In all honesty, most CMs typically aren’t largely informed in these matters. It’s all hearsay or a guess unless they’re huge fans themselves and genuinely know people within Disney internally. (Which typically isn’t the case).
