Fight outside Haunted Mansion on New Year's Eve

While in MK during NYE, I seen something that I never ever expected to see in a Disney World park - a fight! While standing in line for The Haunted Mansion around 2pm, two people started a huge fist-fight. I have no idea what it was about, but I guess it had to do with the huge lineup, pushing and shoving, etc. Within a minute, there was Disney security everywhere and they came out of nowhere! I couldn't see where they took the two guys, but I assume underground and escorted outside the park grounds.....

Anyone else ever experience this? or maybe even this one?

Never seen an actual fistfight there, but have experienced a few shouting matches. If you can't relax and have fun in WDW, I really think you have a BIG problem! :veryconfu

Funny, this sort of behavior usually happens at the turnstyles.

I remember one day i saw - on multiple occasions - guests being led backstage, escorted by several Orange County Deputies. I later talked with one of the deputies and he was annoyed at the amount of paperwork he was going to have to do on account of people's foolishness.

I was once 10 feet away from a heated arguement at the Jungle Cruise that I thought was going to end up in a fight. It was BAD - everyone stopped talking because they were so loud. I guess people just get more irritated during the busy holiday season. Their loss - when they get escorted out of the park and charged they're the ones that are missing all the fun!

Ive always wondered how parents explain to their kids that "Daddy cant go back to Disney World" after he got tresspassed and/or arrested.

Exactly Dave!

I have never witnessed a fist fight and hope I never do. I have seen a couple of yelling matches, and a few rude comments made towards ppl.

If you are banned from WDW, how would anyone be able to spot you and remember that you have been banned from the park.

It is a risk to take.... If you get caught, then you will be prosecuted for trespassing. And for some people that might be the one conviction too much that leads to jail.

Good question! It is shocking to think people can reach the point of disruptiveness (probrably not a word!:veryconfu ) of getting banned from WDW.. but unfortunately, I'm sure it does happen. So how does security track down/ identify banned people?

What about the new finger thing that you have to do when you enter the park? Does that track your fingerprints? They could ban your fingerprints so that when you try to re-enter the park the machine flags you.

in all honesty, they don't track down banned people who may have entered into the park; in fact, i don't think they ever make an effort to do so unless a violator has committed a rather major violation at the park.

As for fist fights in the park; a lot of times, the people aren't banned for life or taken to jail. Standard procedure in the past has been to interview those involved, find out what happened, and then form a judgement on the punishment. Since one of the two people involved in any fight is simply defending themselves, Disney can not ban or "punish" them as they lead themselves into a risky corner where that person can claim they defended themself due to the lack of protection/security provided by Disney. At this point, last I heard, most "bannings" are only in effect for a month, unless its a local, in which case Disney extends it to six months (on average) just to ensure that the next time the "violator" makes it back to WDW, it's been awhile since their last incident.

Tickets have your name on them and you have to provide photo-ID if requested. I suspect that if your name was on a "banned" list, they'd have enough to either confirm you are the person banned or clear you if you happen to have the same name.

Disney is a private company, and is private property. You can be trespassed for fighting at any of the theme parks. And, it is a permenant thing. Only the director of security can revoke a trespass. They actually have pictures on file of all the people who have been kicked out and they watch for them.

What about the fingerprint thing when you enter the park.. doesnt that read your fingerprints? Or is it doing something else.. more evil.. like cloning our DNA? If it reads our fingerprints then isnt it possible to ban fingerprints from entering the park? You wouldnt be able to get thru the gate if you were flagged?

There is no finger printing involved in the biometric system at the park gates.
