I am the Disney fan, my wife is not. So I always try to find something that we get her to do a Disney trip. The last trip to Walt Disney World I agreed to stay at Animal Kingdom Villas and she loved it. The only problem was getting her to leave the room and not just sit and watch the animals outside our room. Last year I want to go to Disneyland Paris, so I took her to London and than we rode the train to France. She got to see the crown jewels; I got to see Mickey. Later this year I am taking her to Asia, I get to stop off in Tokyo to see Disney Seas.

We've made more trips to WDW this year than we have in years past, so we started our year by purchasing APs for the first and most likely only time. Each trip has been different and has been at a different resort each time (rented dvc points and paid what we would have paid as much or less than we would have at a moderate resort). One was just the two of us and we tried some new restaurants and took a tour; plus really spent some time at AK (we haven't been there in years). The second one was with our children and grandchildren, so we revisited some of the restaurants, rides, and attractions that we haven't been to since our kids 'outgrew' them; plus MNSSHP and Food & Wine. Our third trip was impromptu, New Year's Day thru the weekend, we visited several resorts to see the Christmas Decor, tried cupcakes at many locations, a new restaurant. Our next trip will be for Atlanta Braves Spring Training and Flower & Garden festival; I'm working on some ideas that we haven't done before. Our final trip will be the week the APs expire, still planning.

There is so much to do in the WORLD. We've even gone and never spent any time in one of the 4 Parks.

And that is the other problem, he absolutely loves all the decorations at Christmastime, plus the fact that it's not super hot like when we used to go in August, so he only wants to go then, when I tell him now that both DS are in college, we can go in January and save some $$$:)
Why not go in early December? The Christmas lights will be up and you won't have to deal with the crowds around the holidays.

He wants to go camping in the woods!!!!!!!!!!! No electricity! I'm from Jersey! Where would I plug in my hair dryer.LOL
I didn't realize it was a Jersey thing! I really didn't even want anything to do with the tent my DD got for the backyard. My idea of roughing it is one room for four of us, with only one bathroom.

Now, that said, I think it would be interesting to stay at Ft. Wilderness for a night. I have heard you can rent camp equipment or even RV's. But it definitely would have to be in winter months, and it for sure would be a one night deal. I might as well stay in one of the cabins.

are you having a conversation with yourself..lol :D

LOL actually we just had "the talk" yesterday about a potential Disney trip, of course this is weighing on whether I get this new job or not. And yeah, the story is about the same, he described the Magic Kingdom as "full of snotty nosed brats and their entitled parents" which, at that point, I backed off and let the convo drop. He's obviously not interested, and with THAT attitude, I don't want to go to WDW with him. So I'll go alone! (and he'll stay home and be miserable)

Side note, is the Disney Food Blog yours? Because I think I check that site more often than I check my bank account, the news, and Facebook. LOVE IT. (and if it is, thanks for the heads up on the peanut butter and jelly cupcakes at Capt'n Cooks!)

Not every spouse or family member wants to go to Disney. Whether I've traveled with others, or gone solo (multiple times, by the way), it's always a fun time. :) Each trip is an experience, unique in itself. I wish you a pleasant vacation. Enjoy!

Depending on where you are in NJ, you could come out to the Poconos. There are tons of houses and cabins you can rent out here, with a variety of "roughing it" levels. Rental rates are great, so it's an inexpensive vacation. It's not all heart-shaped tubs anymore, there's a lot of great nature stuff to do. :)

I understand you frustration @bethymouse I have recently changed positions at our school and have taken a job in administration.. along with the 12 month schedule. We do have a couple trips in our future plans but they are long weekend trips... so long to my 2 weeks at Disney :( .
We went on the Disney Cruise about 4 years ago... One of my greatest trips ever... loved it! :)
