Did anyone have reservations for the Japanese Restaurant in Epcot named Mitsukoshi Teppanyapi.

Hope its not only fish on the menu. Will it be fun for a 9 and 8 years old.

Thanks

I think you'll probably get mixed reviews on this one. I've read some people think it's not as good as their local japanese steak house. My family LOVED it though. We had a blast. The Chefs do put on the same type of show as any Japanese steak house. My son was 2 1/2 when we went last, he enjoyed it so much that when we finished he wanted some of the child sized chop sticks they sell in the store below. We got him some and he eats with them all the time now. He'll be 5 when we go back and can't wait to show off how efficeint he is with his chop sticks.
As far as the menu goes, DH got sushi as an appetizer and steak for the entree. Myself and my son always get terryaki chicken when ever we eat Japanese. Typical of that type of restraunt there are about 8 seats around the grill, so if you don't have a party of 8 you will probably sit with another party. We enjoy dining with others as it gives us a chance to meet new people. The family we sat with last time was from Germany. They were kind of suprised when I started speaking to them, so was DH.

I am another that loves this restaurant, but if you look through past threads, many would prefer their local restaurants to this one.

It is alot different meeting the people next to you at Disney and seeing how their stay is and where they're from and such. And I like it more than my local restaurants.

I used to love this restaurant until it became really expensive and they started cutting down on their portions. Now I go to Kobe on 192 because they give you more food for less $$ :)

I've been to the Sushi bar they have situated inside the same building so I assume many of the foods there are also offered inside the restaurant. I thought the vegetable tempura was fabulous!

Well, it's not that I prefer my local Japanese steakhouses, but Mitsukoshi isn't really better than my local places, either. It IS more expensive, that's for sure.

But I will also say the it's also a beautiful restaurant, and I can't imagine anyone who doesn't go to hibachi/steak houses with any regularity to be disappointed.

DS loved it at 10yo! Great food, wonderful show by the chef and pleasant people to talk to.

We used to have a Teppan-style restaurant here in Ottawa [Japanese Village] that was similar, but I think it closed a few years ago.

They have steak, shrimp, scallops and a variety of other entrees. You'll certainly find something you'll like. If you're not on Dining Plan, it's expensive, but not bad at all if you've got DDP!

Depends on the child. If they are picky eaters that are only interested in hot dogs, burgers and mac 'n' cheese then I doubt it. But if they ejoy a more varied menu or trying new tastes then it can only be a good thing :D

It is good, a nice variety to choose from. As other people said it is getting a little expensive for the portions. Being from Hawaii, we've got a bunch of these so I guess I am used to their things. But as I said before the food is tasty and I enjoyed it a lot.

Oh man I also loved thier Mikan drink. Had it both times when I went to the teppenyaki side and the Tempura side.

I absolutely love this place. Yes it's pretty much comparable to your local Benihana, but I pretty much love anything teppan cooked.

That being said, their specialty alchoholic drinks are pretty good, and so is their steak. I also like their fried rice. Give it a shot, hopefuly you'll get a chef who's into the whole showmanship thing, but even if you don't, the food usually turns out about the same :)

It's pretty good. Our 3 year old daughter enjoyed the show more than the food, but then again, she's kind of a picky eater. She did eat some chicken and the rice. My hubby and I both enjoy going there. Somebody mentioned the specialty alcoholic drinks... well, the non-alcoholic ones are excellent, too! There is a good variety of things to choose from- steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, lobster, and I think tofu, too?!?!

Keep it on your schedule. I think you'll like it, if that's your kind of thing! And, your kids will probably enjoy it- at least, the cook's show. (we do travel with other kids- from ages 4 to 13, and they've all enjoyed it)
