February Cruising?

Hi everyone! I'm seeking out the expert advice of the great DCL fans, especially those of you who have cruised to the Bahamas in February.

Before my question, though, just a little info: My parents will celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary on February 21, 2012. Although it's not a milestone year, we are contemplating a cruise on The Dream to celebrate it. None of us (I have 3 siblings and a daughter, so none of the 7 of us) have ever been on a cruise but we've talked about it for SO many years. We were thinking about celebrating in WDW but I really want to wait until the FLE is finished and that's looking like at least fall of '12. We'll probably just wait until it's all completed in '13 to visit WDW again (if I can wait that long! :() I must also include that of the 7 of us, only 4 of us are really Disney fans. My siblings would rather just save $ and go on a different cruise line. My thought: you get what you pay for and DCL is the only way to go.

Okay, enough background and onto my question: is it cold, even chilly, in February? I'm asking about all areas we'll be cruising, including Port Canaveral, on the ship otw to the Bahamas, in Nassau, in Castaway Cay. I'm guessing that the pools would be heated if it was too chilly but keeping in mind that I have 3 adults going with us who might nitpick about every negative thing, I'm trying to get a heads up now before we make a deposit.

Also, any other issues with cruising in February other than the weather?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer! :)

We've cruised in February before! Port Canaveral was by far our chilliest port. We wore light jackets and jeans in Orlando. If you've ever been to Disney during February, you know that can be typical. It's also possible there will be warm front and it will be gorgeous there. That's happened to us in February at WDW.

As for the Bahamas, it was gorgeous. Definitely warm enough for swimsuits and swimming. The ocean was slightly chilly when you first got in, and then it felt great.

The pools onboard are heated.:)

Cruises are great choices for celebrations!

Thanks for your advice! We've only ever been to WDW in summer and late Sept/early October so I just wasn't sure about the weather. If you can swim in the Bahamas in Feb, I'm guessing that would be the same with Castaway Cay?

Yes! We snorkeled in Castaway Cay. It was chilly getting in, and then felt great.:)

Okay - I can actually help a little! Because even though I've only been on one cruise (in July), my wedding anniversary is the first of February, so I have been to the Bahamas both for my honeymoon and to celebrate my anniversary at that time of year.

I have to 100% agree with Tammy. It can be cool, but not so cold that you wouldn't get in the water or pool. And it will feel almost hot most days compared to the cold weather you will be leaving behind! Sometimes on a cool day the highs will only reach the low 80's, but even then, you can be outdoors in the water and be comfortable.

If someone said that I had to cruise again, but could only go in February, I wouldn't hesitate at all to book it! So excited for you all!
