Ok so I broke down, made the payment and booked our room for Feb. 4-13th at Pop. Was going to try for Movies, but couldn't get the ap rate. So its back to Pop. We were there in June and loved it. That was a grand gathering, this trip will just be me, DH and 2 DD. Have a few questions. We have never been in Feb. so I hope that I picked a good time of Feb. We are curious as to crowds...will they be comparable to Nov. the week of Veterans Day? how about the weather? Also, in June we did the breakfast at Cindy's our 2nd time. So this time we are going to try Chef Mickeys (never been there). I was thinking of letting the girls do something special on our daughter's birthday. What do you experts recommend that will work for both 4 & 8 yr old girls?

HI
I can't answer all your questions but I can help on some.
We will be there the 6th through the 12th!! It's Mardi Gras at home and we (along with half of Louisiana) choose to spend our vacation in Disney!! The weather should be in the low 70's during the day and maybe 50's at night. Crowds haven't been too bad the past two years. We eat around 5:30, 6 o'clock, and our group of three has never waited more than 15 minutes for lunch or dinner without PS.
Hope this helps alittle!! Have a great trip!

I'll be there 6th - 13th. I'd highly recommend the Princess Storybook Breakfast at Norway at Epcot for your daughters. We took our then 2 year old daughter the first year they were doing it and it was wonderful. She still remembers it and talks about it two years later. Haven't been in Feb., but we've been in January three times. It should be comparable. Be warned that it could get chilly down there. One year we went and people told us we were there for Florida's few days of winter. It was in the 50's during the day and dipped to the 40's at night. So don't take all warmer weather clothes.

I was in your neighborhood Saturday, for the craft show! We will be there from the 7th, for 5 nites, staying at Pop Century. I am taking alot of first timers, and my girlfriend really wanted to go see her son, who is marching with his school (Jesuit) in Magic Kingdom on Mardi Gras Day. We would leave earlier but my other girlfriend's in-laws are the king and queen of Des Allemands, and they parade on Sunday. So we have to wait until Monday to leave. I have to admit that I am apprehensive about the crowd levels on Mardi Gras week. I'm used to going the second week of December, when nobody is there.

We will be there a little bit later. (Feb 25 to March4th) Hubby's Spring Break is normally 1st week in March, but it is a bit early this year. I guess that is a good thing since Easter is early this year too (end of March).

Febuary 2001 we were there and it was cold cold cold. I think it was just the days we were there. (our luck huh?) We have been there in Dec, Jan and many times in March and for the most part it is nice and sunny and warm, but not so hot you are dying. Much better then Summer in my opinion.

I can't wait, for us up north a trip to WDW during the winter is the only way not to go crazy by spring.

Crowd wise, should it be much lower than what we saw the first two weeks of June? Also would we be better to go end of Feb. and early March? We are not stuck w/ dates as far as getting time off from work. We will probably do the breakfast in Norway, and Chef Mickeys, and probably one dinner at Liberty Tree. I am also looking for something special, that the girls could do together, maybe some tour or special activity that is geared to the 4-8 crowd. Anyone with any experience on those type of things???? thanks for the help.

side note...40-50's would be like heaven, any day you don't wake up and have to scrape the snow and ice off the windshield is a good day!

We went that same time this past February and it was awesome. The weather was very comfortable with low humidity. The flowers had already been put out for upcoming Spring and were beautiful. The crowds were very, very light. We never waited in a long line. It was pretty much ride all you want without having to wait.

We're going from Feb 4-13th as well. It's been 3 long years since our last trip and we're very excited to be taking our 8 and 6 y/o girls and 4 y/o boy. On past trips, we've usually gone down to WDW in late Jan or early Feb. The weather will certainly be nicer than what you or I will be experiencing that time of year at home. However, we were down there in late Jan 2000 and had a few days when the lo temp got down to the 30's. Mighty cold morning to be riding Dumbo like we did. Bring the winter jackets just in case.

I would never describe the parks as empty during that time of year, but nothing like in summer. By mid day there will still be 40 min waits to get on Space Mountain, Splash, Peter Pan, Pooh, etc.

As for something special, I read about something called the Wonderland Tea Party at the Grand Floridian that might appeal to your girls. Apparently the kids get to have tea with Alice and her friends.

As for us, the character breakfast at Chef Mickey's, dinner followed by Fantasmic, and dinner at the Teppanyaki at Japan in Epcot will be hopefully highlights for our kids.

Have a great trip!!!!

Is this the Pan who used to be a regular here? If it is; it's so nice to see you!
I'm Back! Thanks.

I had to go away for a bit. It was just too depressing knowing that I couldn't get back to WDW for so long. But now we're just 82 days away. I don't post too often but I read these boards just about every day and it really gets me excited for the trip. It's great to see you and so many other familiar "faces" still around these boards.

I'll see ya there! I'll be at Pop from Feb.3-11. Initially I had reservations at All Star Movies but actually switched to Pop after staying there just 1 night in September. I thought it was great. And I'm a HUGE All Star fan. I'll be there for 8 nights, 5 of them all by myelf, and I can't wait!!!!

I've been there at this time in February. I don't remember ever waiting for more than 20 minutes for any attraction. The beginning of February until President's week is a GREAT time to visit.

I've been to the Cinderella breakfast too. And while it was a great time, I certainly agree with you trying something else. Call me an unimaginative adult, ubt unless the character's have big ears or a bill for a nose, I have a tough time getting into it. I'm always like "These aren't real" when I'm around the princesses or princes. Of course, Mickey and Donald are though!!! I know- I've got issues.

The weather in Feb. varies. It CAN be cold, or it can be slightly hot, but usually it is great. The temp. tends to drop at night too -so during the day you may be tempted to wear shorts, but by the time Illuminations starts you may be cold. So be certain to bring some long pants and a sweatshirt for nighttime! Check the weather predictions just before you go, and each day on tv before you head out. And maybe head to AK on your warmest day (or skip the water ride). Hitting the water parks probably won't be a high priority either, but you also won't die of heat! If it isn't a vacation week, the lines will be short, but if it's president's week, expect some crowds. Also, the days around the Daytona 500, can be more crowded. (especially if a huge snowstorm hits the entire East coast...like it did a few years ago, and everyone is stuck in Orlando for a few extra days. It isn't likely, but it can happen.)

WDW Trip planning Hints

OK, y'all...(yes, I'm from Birmingham. :) )...my hubby and I are receiving a trip to WDW as a Christmas gift this year from my folks. We're shooting for Feb 12-16 or 17. That means we'll be in Disney World on Valentine's Day.

Is there anything special that two 30-ish kids-at-heart without little ones might want to try and do on Valentine's Day in the World?

Thanks!

Watching the fireworks at MK from the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort might be nice. They dim the lights and pipe in the music from the show while you're there.

For the 4-8 year old crowd

My girls(6 and 8) LOVED the Princess breakfast at Epcot. The other HUGE hit for my girls was at Sea World. They have tours...one in particular..where you get to pet a penguin! There are a few other things like the tea party already mentioned but I have no experience with those.

I had to go back to this post to express my happiness that I will be at WDW as well on 2/10 through 2/13 on a spur of the moment decision. We are heading down to see Duran Duran in Tampa and decided to stay at POR. :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: I know it will be a drive to Tampa from our hotel, but I could not go to Tampa and be so close to WDW without going for at least a day. I am picturing Magic Kingdom on Friday, Duran Duran on Saturday, and shopping at DTD on Sunday. We have to hit at least one park since it will be our first trip to WDW in 2 years where my husband and I can ride everything together since we usually have to do the parent/child switch off. :animwink:
