"Don't Speak" is a great break up song. I relate too much to some of the No Doubt songs like "Bathwater". I really need to stay away from the bad boys  .

I wouldn't know . When I actually get a boy, I'll let you know .

And now for a little NSYNC...

Hey Hey
Bye bye bye
Bye bye
Bye bye

I'm doin' this tonight
You're probably gonna start a fight
I know this can't be right
Hey baby come on

I loved you endlessly
When you weren't there for me
So now it's time to leave
And make it alone

I know that I can't take no more
It ain't no lie
I wanna see you out that door
Baby bye bye bye
(bye bye)

Don't wanna be a fool for you
Just another player in your game for two
You may hate me
But it ain't no lie
Baby bye bye bye
(bye bye)

Don't really wanna make it tough
I just wanna tell you that I had enough
Might sound crazy
But it ain't no lie
Baby bye bye bye

You just hit me with the truth
Now girl you're more than welcome to
So give me one good reason
Baby come on
I live for you and me
And now I really come to see
That life would be much better
Once you're gone

I know that I can't take no more
It ain't no lie
I wanna see you out that door
Baby bye bye bye
(bye bye)

Don't wanna be a fool for you
Just another player in your game for two
You may hate me
But it ain't no lie
Baby bye bye bye
(bye bye)

Don't really wanna make it tough
I just wanna tell you that I had enough
Might sound crazy
But it ain't no lie
Baby Bye bye bye

I'm givin' up I know for sure
I don't wanna be the reason for your love no more
Bye bye
I'm checkin' out
I'm signin' off
I don't wanna be the loser
And I've had enough

I don't wanna be your fool
In this game for two
So I'm leaving you behind

Bye bye bye
I don't wanna make it tough
Make it tough
But I had enough
Bye Bye
And it ain't no lie
Baby

Don't wanna be a fool for you
Just another player in the game for two
I don't wanna be your fool
But it ain't no lie
Baby bye bye bye
(bye bye)

Don't really wanna make it tough
I just wanna tell you that I had enough
Might sound crazy
But it ain't no lie
Bye bye bye
(bye bye)

And a little Backstreet Boys..

Count the days the hourglass
Days go and all I do is think of you
And wonder where you are at night
I remember everything
Every smile even all the reasons why
You say I pushed you out of my mind

Chorus
Baby you set me
Baby you set me
Set adrift on memory bliss of you
Baby you set me
Set adrift on memory bliss

Destiny is everything
Reality's replaced you with
The biggest emptiness
You've ever had in life(ever had in life)
Bet you say that I don't care
Bet you say that I don't even think of you
But god knows how wrong you are

Baby will you be there
Baby will you be there
Just give me time (just give me time)
To fix my life (to fix my life)
Baby will you be there
When I open my eyes
After all the time I've spent
Wishing you

Chorus

Sadness has overwhelmed me
But my thoughts carelessly
Imagine that you're happy
With your life right now
I guess that's just the way life goes
Forever's gone so now I must
Place you with all the things
That I could never have

Chorus to fade

How about a little unrequited love.....

Backstreet Boys......

I don't know what he does to make you cry
but I'll be there to make you smile
I don't have a fancy car
to get to you I'd walk a thousand miles
I don't care if he buys you nice things
Does his gifts come from the heart ? - I don't know...
But if you were my girl...
I'd make it so we'd never be apart

Chorus
But my love is all I have to give
Without you I don't think I can live
I wish I could give the world to you... but
Love is all I have to give

When you talk, does it seem like he's not
even listening to a word you say ?
That's ok babe, just tell me your problems
I'll try my best to kiss them all away...
Does he leave when you need him the most?
Does his friends get all your time ?
Baby please, I'm on my knees
praying for the day that you'll be mine !!

Chorus

To you... Hey girl, I don't want you to cry no more - inside
All the money in the world could never add up to the love
I have inside...
I love you

And I will give it to you
All I can give, all I can give
Everything I have is for you
But love is all I have to give

Chorus

But my love is all I have to give
without you I don't think I can live
I wish I could give the world to you... but
Love is all I have to give to you

Best break-up song ever (courtesy of the World of Motion)

It's fun to be free
To be on the move
To go anywhere with ever a care to
Do all you've wanted to do
It's fun to be free

It's fun to be free
To be on the move
You go where you please
With comfort and ease to
See all there is to be seen
It's fun to be free

It's fun to be free
To be on the move
To go for a hike
Whenever you like to
Do all there is to be done
It's fun...
To be free!

My shattered dreams and broken
Heart are mending on the shelf.
I saw you holding hands standing so close to someone else.
Now I sit all alone, wishing all my feeling was gone.
Gotta get over you?..
Nothing for me to do?..
But have one last cry.
(CHORUS)
One last cry
Before I leave it all behind
I've gotta put you out of my mind, this time-
Stop living a lie.
I guess I'm down to one last cry.
I was here,you were there.
Guess we never could agree.
While the sun shines on you,
I need some love to rain on me.
Still, I sit all alone,
Wishing all my feelings were gone.
Gotta get over you?.
Nothing for me to do?..
But have one last cry.
(CHORUS)
I know I gotta be strong,
But 'round me
Life goes on and on and on, and on
I'm gonna dry my eyes
Right after I have my one last cry.

(CHORUS)

The Dance by Garth Brooks

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I the king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know
I might have changed it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

It's my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
That has to be the most personally accurate heartbreak song for me.

As a performer the reprise of the song "Colours of my Life" from Barnum got many people teary eyed. I've searched the net, but can't find the reprise lyrics.

The reprise is sung when Barnum's wife, Charity, is discovered to be ill and then passes away. It's at this point of the show that the actress playing Chrity has to perform her only circus skill in the whole show - a basic three ball juggle. This is something she says she found difficult at the best of times, but jokingly hated me as I made it worse for her each night due to the tears she had running down her face and blurring her vision.

The next problem for me was that I too had been crying and then had to sing the song "Prince of Humbug". Ever tried singing a all out song with a nose full of fresh snot? :D:

How are the Reprise lyrics different from the original? (I cried reading them)
I had forgotten that Jim Dale played Barnum.....I love him. (and he does a great job of narrating the Harry Potter books on tape/CD.

Yes !

I was in choir in high school that had a reputation of being the worst choir in the county. In a competition against 6 other school choirs, we were considered the underdogs. It was our turn to sing for the judges and we did a medly of songs from Aladdin. Everyone loved it and we won first place. (I'm still shocked we sang that good). Winners have to sing again after receiving their trophy. Well, all of us were crying and had a hard time singing with tears in our eyes and "a nose full of fresh snot."

They are roughly the same, but the first time we hear the song, Barnum sings his verse all about the bright colours then exits at which point Charity sings her verse about the more subdued colours of nature.

The second time, they sing it together, with their verses overlapping. It was very intense during the performance as the death scene was done symbolically, as the song progressed Julia ,who played Charity (known as Chairy ot Barnum) get ups and starts to leave (this is her passing away) and as Barnum I stand and snuggle behind her, trying to hold on to her, but no amount of humbug can save her and she has to walk away. What choked up Julia up was that in rehearsal she was used to breaking away, but with the extra intensity of the performance she could feel me hanging on to the end and she had to physically pull herself away. Turn around and deliver the last line of the song.

Anyway I'm at home now and have dug the lyrics out. If you try and superimpose the moves I mention above you may get an idea of the scene.

Charity's lines
Barnum's lines

The colours of my life
The colours of my life
Are softer than a breeze
Are bountiful and bold
The purple glow of indigo
The silver-grey of eiderdown
The gleam of green and gold
The dappled green of trees
The splendor of a sunrise
The amber of a wheatfield
The dazzle of a flame
The hazel of a seed
The glory of a rainbow
The crystal of a raindrop
I'd put 'em all to shame
Are all I'll ever need
No quiet browns and greys
Your reds are much too bold
I'll take my days instead
In gold I find no worth
And fill them till they overflow
I'll fill my days with sage and brown
With rose and cherry red
The colours of the earth

During the next line Charity moves away from Barnum toward a group of jugglers stage right.

BARNUM: And if from by my side
My love should roam.

CHARITY: The colours of my life
Will shine a quiet light
To lead him home.

Music continues as Charity juggles three balls then tosses them one at a time to Barnum who begins to juggle them

BARNUM: (as he juggles)

.....Chairy

(She is gone)

Chairy!

(Music stops, Barnum is alone on the stage)

CHAIRY!

Not everybody understood what had happened, but very few of those who did were not choked by it and I have to admit to shedding a tear now remembering it. Whenever my Mother watches the video recording we made of the show, this scene always has her reaching for the tissues.

He said "I'll love you till I die",
she told him "You'll forget in time"
As the years went slowly by,
she still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall,
went half-crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all,
hoping she'd come back again

Kept some letters by his bed
dated nineteen sixty-two
He had underlined in red
every single "I love you"

I went to see him just today,
oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away, first time
I'd seen him smile in years

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

(Spoken)
You know,
she came to see him one last time.
Aww, 'n' we all wondered if she would.
And it kept runnin' through my mind
"this time he's over her for good."

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

So much for my happy ending
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh...

Let's talk this over
It's not like we're dead
Was it something I did?
Was it something You said?
Don't leave me hanging
In a city so dead
held up so high
On such a breakable thread

You were all the things I thought of you
And I thought we could be

CHORUS
You were everything, everything that I wanted
We were meant to be, supposed to be, but we lost it
And all the memories, so close to me, just fade away
All this time you were pretending
So much for my happy ending
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh...

You've got your dumb friends
I know what they say
They tell you I'm difficult
But so are they
But they don't know me
Do they even know you?
All that they talk about
All the ________ that you do

You were all the things I thought of you
And I thought we could be

CHORUS

It's nice to know you were there
Thanks for asking like you cared
And making me feel like I was the only one
It's nice to know we had it all
Thanks for watching as I fall
And letting me know we were done

CHORUS X 2

oh oh, oh oh, oh oh...

Memphis

Long distance information, give me Memphis Tennessee
Help me find the party trying to get in touch with me
She could not leave her number, but I know who placed the call
'Cause my uncle took the message and he wrote it on the wall

Help me, information, get in touch with my Marie
She's the only one who'd phone me here from Memphis Tennessee
Her home is on the south side, high up on a ridge
Just a half a mile from the Mississippi Bridge

Help me, information, more than that I cannot add
Only that I miss her and all the fun we had
But we were pulled apart because her mom did not agree
And tore apart our happy home in Memphis Tennessee

Last time I saw Marie she's waving me good-bye
With hurry home drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye
Marie is only six years old, information please
Try to put me through to her in Memphis Tennessee

Fire and Rain

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Won't you look down upon me, Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way

woh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

I’ve been working my mind to an easy time
My back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it’ll turn your head around
Well, there’s hours of time on the telephone line
To talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.

woh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now

Thought I'd see you one more time again
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain
