Favorite deluxe resort

We've stayed at the AKL and the Boardwalk. We are in the minority in that we did not like the AKL. We absolutely LOVED the Boardwalk. We would love to try the Poly one day, and also the Beach Club! Our absolute favourite resort though is Fort Wilderness, where we stay in the cabins.

The deluxe properties I have stayed at are the Contemporary, Polynesian and Wilderness. We will be at the Beach Club in early Dec. 2016 and am booked for a Savannah room at Animal Kingdom for 11/2017. Out of those three that I have already experienced, Wilderness is a fav. I am sure that it's number one place will be toppled with the upcoming trips.

Tough call between the Poly and the Yacht Club.

Poly - monorail, large rooms, beautiful grounds, fireworks and water pageant from the beach
Yacht - walk to Epcot and Studios, Stormalong Bay, tranquility, Boardwalk for nighttime stroll

We've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Polynesian, Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Polynesian was not a great experience, but we'd be willing to try it again. Saratoga Springs was a one and done - it just felt like staying at a relatively nice hotel. WL, AKL, and Contemporary are our favorites. It's hard to pick between them, but if we had to narrow it to one - the WL.

This is an easy question for us.... Animal Kingdom Lodge! We have stayed at AKLmany times, Beach Club once, SSR a handful of times, Boardwalk once, Poly once and OKW numerous times. OKW would be our second favorite. Would like to try Wilderness Lodge in future, but no desire whatsoever to stay at Grand Floridian or Contemporary .

Of the ones we've stayed at, here is how I'd rank them:

1.Wilderness Lodge
2.Boardwalk
3.Polynesian
4.Grand Floridian
5.Beach Club
6.Yacht Club
7.Old Key West

Would like to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Want to stay at Contemporary for convenience to MK, and because it's original. No desire to stay at Saratoga, Swan or Dolphin.

Wilderness Lodge is #1 any day of the week. The next 3 are honestly interchangeable. They are all fantastic in their own ways.

We have stayed at 3. Poly-club level, CR (club level and non club level) and AKL(Club level and non club level). If I were to rank them I would go Poly, AKL, CR. However, my DW would switch Poly and AKL due to club level offerings. Right @awheartsdw

In order: The Poly
The Contemporary
The Beach Club

I honestly thought the Beach Club would be my family's favorite as we all love Epcot. But the lack of a decent quick service restaurant was definitely felt. As was the relatively short hours Storm Along Bay was open.

Out of the Deluxe resorts, I can easily say Beach Club is my all time favorite. My family has stayed both there and the Poly and while I did love the Poly a few years for some reasons, I just didn't like the changes that have happened recently. Though don't get me wrong, it has amazing restaurants, great winding pathways with speakers that softly play feel-good Hawaiian music..it just wasn't enough to keep me going there. Half of my family is still in love with it though.
As for the Beach Club and why I love it.. I love the convenient location. I love how easily it is to get to two of my favorite parks within a few minutes. It helps out a ton if you make all those World Showcase dining reservations,(which lets face it, you don't wanna miss out on). I love the atmosphere of it. I love how when you enter the lobby you are completely enriched in the grandeur of a New England-style resort. I love how it's (in my eyes) the home of the best pool on Disney property. I find it hard to believe that pool ever gets crowded because its so spacious. Not to mention, the bar next to the pool 'Hurricane Hannahs' is a great place for conversation whether with staff or others on vacation or business or a drink or bite to eat. I found the rooms to be cozy and perfect for what little time we spent in there. The staff was always willing to help me with whatever confusion I had about anything.

Wow, this was long. But, Beach Club is definitely worth a try if you haven't yet. I'd try the Boardwalk if it wasn't for the weird clown pool. Clowns don't scare me, but the thought of me sliding out a clown mouth.... not pleasant to me.

Just becoming a DVC member recently purchasing OKW points from my parents I am now partial to that resort, but my wife and I stayed at the AKL on our Honeymoon and it was also fantastic.

Over the years I've been fortunate to stay at all the Deluxe Resorts.

My favorite as a standalone experience? Animal Kingdom Lodge. Extensively themed, impressive lobby, 3 good table service restaurants, good food court, good bar, and appealing pools. And don't forget the unique Savannah!

My favorite as an overall experience? Beach Club. Convenient to Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios, the Boardwalk, several different hotel restaurants, and arguably the best (albeit often crowded) pool. More so than the Monorail Resorts, I feel like I'm in the middle of it all when I stay at one of the three Crescent Lake Resorts.

I have to agree with your entire post, almost. I've been fortunate enough to stay at all the deluxe except two: WL and OKW. I'm dying to get them off my list. But definitely AKL from purely a standalone experience point of view. It is absolutely breathtaking and the amenities are just great.

My favorite overall is still on Cresent Lake, its got to be the Boardwalk! That has been the resort my family and I would always stay at growing up and it really became our home-away from home. There is just this nostalgia for me that I've come to love about the BW. Maybe I'm a little biased towards the BW because the majority of my stays have been here, but oh well!

When I travel for short weekend trips, I usually find myself staying at the Poly or the Contemporary (A frame tower). These four definitely are my favorites!
