I've been out of the country loop for a while and my cds are packed for the move. Since I can't think of a whole lot of songs off the top of my head, I'll just say that you can't really go wrong with Tricia Yearwood, Garth Brooks or Martina McBride. :)

I am assuming that you mean the best of all time, not just recently.

So, with that in mind, here is my list (so far):

Can/Will the Circle Be Unbroken -- Carter Family/Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Islands in the Stream -- Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton
Coat of Many Colors -- Dolly Parton
He Stopped Loving Her Today -- George Jones
Coal Miner's Daughter -- Loretta Lynn
Rollin' in my Sweet Baby's Arms -- Flatt and Scruggs (and just about any other bluegrass band)
Foggy Mountain Breakdown -- Flatt and Scruggs
The Fishin' Song -- Brad Paisley
I Still Believe in You -- Vince Gill
Crazy -- Patsy Cline
I Saw the Light -- Hank Williams, Sr.
Hey, Good-Lookin' -- Hank Williams, Sr.
Uncle Pen -- Bill Monroe, Ricky Skaggs (both versions)
You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma -- David Frizzell & Shelly West
Three Bells -- Jim Ed Brown and the Browns
Folsom Prison -- Johnny Cash
Flowers on the Wall -- The Statler Brothers
Bed of Roses -- The Statler Brothers
.... and finally...
You Are My Sunshine -- The Carter Family

O.K., I guess that is enough!! ;)

Blues, Despair, and Agony on Me......HeeHaw :D
Dropkick Me Jesus.....Kris Kristopherson
She Got The Goldmine....Jerry Reed.

Now a more serious collection:

Kiss an Angel Good Morning.....Charlie Pride
The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.....Charlie Rich
Watermelon Wine.....Tom T. Hall
I've Always Been Crazy......Waylon Jennings

I'll probably be back later. It's been a long time since I thought about country music. Right now I'm listening to Celtic Armadillo, waiting for a call about bagpipe lessons.

What, no "get your tongue out of my mouth so I can kiss you goodbye"?

How about Spiders & Snakes by Jim Stafford?
Would Jesus Wear a Rolex by Ray Stevens?
You Never Even Called Me By My Name by David Allen Coe... with the "extra verse" that makes it the Perfect C&W song. ;)

Man there is way too much OLD SCHOOL country on this thread! I can't stand the "old school" country!

Good music is good music no matter when it was written.

*climbs back into my rocker and tunes out*

Fat

My new driver's license photo
Makes me look like Quasimoto
And all my clothes are styled for me
By Minnesota Fats

The diet drink I live on
Soon may take the place of Decon
Heard it killed 8-million Laboratory rats

Every night I dream of Ding Dongs
That are big enough for King Kong
And someday I may just be that big myself.

Stepped on the scales, put in a dime
Card came out, said "One at a time"
I tell ya friends, I really need some help

Cause I'm fat
I feel so fat
The bottoms of my feet
Are the only parts of me that's flat
In a society where thin is in
And lean is where it's at
Fat. Oh,hoo, hoo oo...Why do I have to be so fat?
You're so fat [background voices]

Started workouts with Jane Fonda
When I couldn't get in my Honda
I'm determined I'd turn all my flab to lean

I would hear of some new diet
And I'd run right out and try it
Didn't eat a thing for weeks that wasn't green.

Every week down at the fat club
I would proudly stand up
Tell my weight loss, and give my testimony

Lost 50 pounds, I'm feeling great
Just had one drink to celebrate
And went right out and ate
a french-fried shetland pony

Somebody put a bumber sticker on my car
Said honk if you've got groceries

I'm just standing on a corner
And a cop came over, and asked me to break it up

Evel Knievel called
Wants to jump me

Earl Sheib wouldn't paint me
for eighty-nine ninety-five

Good Year called
Wants me to join the fleet
Cover the next Superbowl

All the chairs in my house got seatbelts

For Kevbo...

There are...three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway...
Why there's not four of them...heaven only knows.
It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you...
It's what you leave behind you when you go.

I almost put that Randy Travis song... I thought I was the only one who liked it.

And George Strait? Can he have a bad song? My 50 #Ones CD is almost worn out.
