I'm loving all of the support for Carousel of Progress! I just wish it wasn't so neglected... I personally wish they would move it back to Disneyland JUST because of the thought that it would be kept up better there and a bit more appreciated by management.

I have not noticed it to be neglected, although I'm not doubting you as perhaps I just didn't notice. When I last rode, everything appeared to be in working condition.

I cant really choose between American Adventure or CoP
Both are tremendous, however, the technical aspect of American Adventure is so much more advanced that it is hardly comparable. If you were to see the configuration under the stage of the scenes and how they must move into place at the right moment, it would completely blow ones mind. CoP was a major technological marvel in 1964 when it first appeared at the NY worlds fair. For it's time, it was magical. It's one of the reasons why it must stay. It is the mother of all we see now. It is still a marvel, even today. When was the last time you experienced sitting in an auditorium and having it move you to the next scene? It's still great, but, American Adventures is nothing else if it isn't an engineering miracle.

That may be just me though, because ever since I first stepped foot on WDW property over half that "magic" that I got out of it was not the show, but, how they made it work technically. I would think that for those that cannot change a spark plug in their car, it would also be an incredible thing to imagine and incorporate in that experience.

It's not that it doesn't work... It's just that it is in bad condition. Similar to the Country Bear Jamboree before it had its major upgrade.. The animatronics are a bit sketchy, a critical lighting section is off (when the mother is painting the room), the audio needs a good upgrade, and you can see through the scrims, and the rotating stages creak.. Just show quality in general.

But I still go to it... For nostalgic reasons. It's a great show. Just neglected.

It could just be the way you view the technological advancements, though! For American Adventure, the actual show is more technologically advance, obviously, compared to CoP... CoP's theatre is what makes it more technologically advanced in that way.

Depends what way you look at it!

It really was a tie for me between American Adventure and Carousel of Progress, but Carousel of Progress more cultural significance and tie to Walt thus why I chose it.

I sat contemplating this for longer than I should have, but despite the numerous cuts, my favorite AA show is the Country Bear Jamboree. The characters are all so well-defined, and the ages-old humor/one liners are still hilarious today. Big Al's initial appearance, and inebriated cackle at the end of his song will never fail to make me laugh.

I just wish Devilish Mary wasn't taken out...

Or "That ain't all that's big!" I understand why it was removed, sure, but these are backwoods types, and wouldn't exactly be on their best behavior all the time, and Henry immediately scolds Buff for saying it.

Different times, I guess.

Being from South Carolina, I can assure you that the times are still the same! CX I often call this show, South Carolina: The Musical

I'm shocked that there's more love for Tiki Room UNM than there is for Mickey Mouse Revue.. From the video I've seen, MMR was a wonderful show!!!!

Picked the Hall of Presidents. It is not everyone's favorite, which is understandable, but the History nerd in me is utterly fascinated by the ability to have every President shown. Based on Audioanimatronics alone, Hall of Presidents should have all beat with what they did with that technology. Some people use this as a good nap, but I cry every time I watch the Hall of Presidents because it shows how great some of the Presidents truly wanted our land to be. Lincoln....best Audioanimatronic period.

I'd give a nod to Alien Encounter... especially when you count the preshow. S.I.R. is/was one of my favorite audio-animatronics ever created by Disney. Might just be because I was a big Tim Curry fan (even the Phil Hartman version was enjoyable though), but I always thought that the pre-show to Alien Encounter was almost as impressive as the main show itself (and the main creature in the main attraction was a pretty amazing spectacle unto itself). The overall grandeur of American Adventure I think has to put that at #1, but I'd argue Alien Encounter has to be at least in the top 50%...

I agree and I wish there were more attractions using the same quality of animatronics.

American Adventure is awesome, but I'm also attached to Carrousel of Progress as I first saw it as a child at the NY World's Fair.

Interesting fact I found from various websites!! Mickey Mouse Revue will apparently be moving into Shanghai Disnsyland! So the show lives on! :D
