In the past I would've voted The American Adventure, but as a historian among other things, the things that The American Adventure glosses over while claiming to be an accurate telling of American history makes me side eye it pretty heavily. Hall of Presidents is even worse about it though, so I can't be too hard on Adventure... Especially given the AAs are pretty impressive even after all this time.

I legitimately miss Under New Management. I know people say they think it disrespects the original but the entire point of it is that "actually, the old show was pretty good", and it updated the old show to be more relevant in the process.

I'm also sad I never got to see Mickey Mouse Revue in person, it looked like a nice show.

And that's why historians never get invited to parties. ;) All of the shows, that connect to reality are "glossed over" at Disney and always have been. You go to museums for gut wrenching accuracy not to a fun theme park. Do you really want to leave American Adventure feeling totally bummed out? On top of that do you want people from other nations leaving and have them thinking Americans are all evil people? American Adventure does hit strongly on the immorality, devastation and foolishness of the Civil War which is enough of a downer and really didn't overemphasize the great things we might have done during WWII. I always felt that it was an acceptable balance without letting all our missteps be displayed like dirty laundry and a primarily accurate show.

Hey, I get invited to plenty of parties thank you!

I decided to give the show a watch through on Youtube after my comment yesterday and it does handle things better than I remembered. I think I may have let my distaste for Hall of Presidents color my perception of American Adventure since it's been a while since I'd actually seen it. Incidentally, HoP? Rewatched that too. And, yeah, still not for me.

I'm still not entirely fond of how Washington and Jefferson are portrayed, nor do I like the "Two Brothers" song (yes, I'm sure the pro-slavery guy was 'gentle and kind' and deserves our sorrow /sarcasm), but I had completely forgotten about the Frederick Douglass and Chief Joseph scenes.
