Faux pas? Is it so wrong?

If we are not staying at a Disney resort and are going to MK for the day is it wrong or even possible to park in BLT's or Poly's parking lot and take the tram over? What if we will be leaving the park mid day for dinner reservations at Poly then heading back to the park is it acceptable now?

Just asking before I try to make a Disney fo pa.... fopai....fopaux (how ever you spell it)

We saw one get towed at CBR. The attendant said they asked for a parking to visit the gift shop. Gift Shop was actually written in the timed pass. They were granted a three hour pass. Several hours later The vehicle was still there parked somewhat near a bus stop. After some hours the car was towed. To where, I do not know.

While I can't be certain, it appears they parked there relatively early in the morning after the opening of the main building and gift shop, around 8 am, and took a resort bus to one of the parks. The car was towed around 7 pm.

Towing is step one. I have seen it happen a couple of times at the Poly and Contemporary.

But would they tow a guest staying at a different resort from the Poly (or Boardwalk our even Port Orleans) if they parked there all day? I guess the only way to know for sure is to ask at the gate.

Hard to say, but I doubt they would tow if you had a parking pass for another Disney resort.

They would probably try to contact you, but I have seen signs stating that the parking at a particular resort is for the guests of that resort or people who are dining there only. I wouldnt chance it personally as I have heard too many stories of towed vehicles. Marie

Do people still park at Downtown and walk over to Saratoga to catch the Resort buses? That was a Big no-no a few years back.

My sense is that they still do. Parking is free and you can just hop a bus at downtown. We just got back and on our last morning we stopped at downtown for awhile just to walk around and waste time before heading south and the parking lots were packed at 10:30 am. There weren't that many people walking around downtown.

I am sure people do, but considering the nightmare that is DTD parking (even before construction) it is a very penny wise but dollar foolish move. By the end of the day that $15 you saved will cost you about 2 hours of travel time.
