Fastpasses...on eBay

Now I know that this is certainly frowned upon by Disney purists, many of which roam this forum. BUT! With all morals and ethics aside, would these, could these fastpasses that are sold on eBay actually work?

There are "regular" fastpasses with time frames available, and there are also "VIP" fastpasses that are advertised as being able to be used at any time on any ride. -Do both types exist? When would someone legitimately obtain a VIP Fastpass?

Has anyone actually tried these? What's the real scoop on these?...the most unbiased scoop! Keeping in mind I KNOW that these are against the rules. They just seem so interesting. Any advantage I can have over the early August heat and crowds certainly catches my attention.

Thanks!

Its not a case of being a purist - its a case of why pay for something that is free and might not be genuine or valid when you get it (would you risk being thrown from the park for trying to cheat)

To get an advantage over the August crowds / heat - arrive at park opening and collect your own FP (to use them legally) and ride the major attractions before the crowds / heat become too much.

I've never used them but to the best of my knowledge, these passes do exist. I think they are generally sold by CM's who can get hold of a stack of these things.

However, because they do exist it's no guarentee that they will work. Some may be fakes, some won't even exist and some will be genuine but with a date stamped on them. Run into one CM who checks and you've wasted quite a bit of money.

I know the crowds in August can be bad but if you get there early and do a bit of planning you will be fine.

Personally, I would feel on edge everytime I presented a fastpass incase I got caught and I would feel guilty as I stroll past the genuine crowd - that would spoil my trip.

I have a very strong personal feeling against these things on ebay. So much so, that when I was in Disney last month, I rpinted up some of these auctions from ebay and presented them to a manager at the Magic Kingdom. As expected, they are aware of them, but honestly, don't care.

As for why it angers me so much, here are a few reasons:

1.Some of these passes are rider switch passes. Those are passes given to familes with small children, or in some cases, handicapped children, who can not ride or wait in lines. These scum on ebay are cheating the system used to help these people out for their own personal gain.

2.We all wait in long enough lines at WDW. Thanks to these people, we're forced to wait in even longer ones.

3.Clearly, some of the people selling these on ebay are CM's, stealing them. They should all be fired, on the spot.

4.These passes all say "NOT FOR SALE/RE-SALE/NON-TRANSFERABLE", yet ebay allows the sale as the seller claims he is selling a plain white envelope for $300 and including the fastpasses as a free gift. Ebay has absolutely no morales at all.

The whole thing makes me sick.

The scoop is, they are passes reserved for handicapped people who physically can not stand in line, stolen by CM's or obtained under false pretenses by dishonest and deceitful people, then sold on ebay for their own financial gain.

If you have no problem being a part of that, go right ahead.

And the passes that I have seen sold on ebay are the kind that you are given if a ride is having technical issues and they ask you to come back another time, etc. I'm sure they work just fine assuming you don't get greedy and keep trying to re-ride.

I've seen so many parents "cheating" at Disney with Fastpass and Single Riders queues, it makes me sick.

Recently we were at Everest, and went through the Fastpass line. When we came up to where they take the tickets (at the loading area), the loading area was backed up. We're standing there looking around. Behind us, there was a 30-ish year old mom with three girls, ranging from 9-12 years old. The mom got into an argument with the CM. The CM said the mom only handed him 2 Fastpasses, but there were 4 people. The mom insisted she gave the CM 4 passes. The CM said she didn't, she only gave him 2. The mom wouldn't give up. She then said loudly, "I had to wait 3 hours for our Fastpass time, and you're not going to let us all ride??" The CM finally allowed them to go through.

The mom and the 3 girls walked up behind us. The mom then pulled 2 Fastpasses out of her purse, handed them to two of the girls, and said they'll be able to ride again. They all smirked, the girls giggled. When they saw me looking at them, they all looked around like nothing happened.

I feel sorry for those girls. That's probably the way they'll grow up. Lie, cheat, and steal to get their way. Either that, or they'll get their rich daddy to buy them Fastpasses off E-Bay.

i dont think they work. i mean, the fastpass has a date and time, so do the ones that are given out if a ride breaks down. its a shame how people pay for them, only to be scammed out. i think it defeats the purpose of the fastpass, and truely i am against the selling and usage of fastpasses bought that way.

It's not the point. I'm sure they work too. Doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.

Yes, some of the passes are the type given out if a ride breaks down. Again, stolen by a CM and sold on ebay for financial gain. It's wrong. And it's wrong to cheat the system and make other folks who are playing by the rules wait in longer lines.

The fast passes for sale on e-bay are not the typical timed and dated fast passes that you receive from fast pass machines in the parks. They are typically rider switch passes or comp passes for when a ride goes 101 for an extended period of time. Neither are dated.

One thing that I noticed, and like, about the new version of the fastpasses is that it includes your ticket id number. If disney wanted, they can track the people that are selling the regular fastpasses. I hope that this will reduce the e-bay auctions. I don't know if the other types of fastpasses are traceable but the new versions of the standard ones are.

All ethics aside, keep in mind that many of the passes are being changed out to a system that makes the date more prominent (even on typically non-dated rider switch passes and "assistance" passes). So odds are these passes will look different than "current" ones, making them even more likely to throw up red flags.

Unfortunately, Disney has been too lazy to do this yet. The way they see it is, it's not really hurting them financially. It's only hurting their guests. Clearly, their guests aren't a huge concern to them.

I say buyer beware.

I would never buy fastpasses or Disney Tickets on eBay. Disney is very clear that if you buy "new" tickets from an authorized reseller they will try to help you out. Otherwise they just let you hang in the breeze. Just check the boards for other stories. It seems Disney has little symapthy if you let yourself get scammed (in most cases I agree with that policy)

These shameless shysters couldn't care less whether they work or not, and I would really caution against spending even a penny on such a risky scheme.

I happen to think the people buying them are almost as shady as the people selling them. They know it's against Disney policy. They know they're making other people wait in longer lines. People just don't care.
