FastPass should be no more

I remember when I waited no more than 20-30 minutes for a ride...that was before fastpass. Now, it seems that the lines are longer and the wait twice as long.

I waited in line over 90 minutes for Space Mountain last year when the queue said 45. It seemed that they handed out far too many Fastpasses and had to catch up. I mean there were times when the line didn't move for 15 minutes and that has never happened.

Years ago, I was in MK with most of Brazil (who traveled in packs of 50) and never experienced a wait like last year.

Uh-oh.. another fastpass thread!

My vote goes to supporting fastpass. You get the same amount of rides in overall over the course of a day. Maybe even more because of all the people that don't know how to take advantage of it.

I was at MK last tuesday (easter week), and we were able to fastpass space mountain, big thunder (twice), splash mountain, and peter pan. As a result, instead of waiting on hour+ long lines, I was able to ride a bunch of other stuff in between. In total, on that Tuesday, being in the park at 8:40am, we were able to ride (in order)

Buzz
Pooh
Philharmagic
Space Mountain (FP)
TTA
Haunted Mansion
Pirates
Splash Mountain
COP
Tom Sawyer's Island
The Train from main street -> main street -> frontierland
BTMR (FP)
Small World
CBJ
Swiss Family treehouse
Picture with Pooh (in toontown fair)
Peter Pan (FP)
Watch wishes
TTA
Watch spectomagic
Ride BTMR (FP)
Get on again and ride 3 times in a row without getting out of the train (it was 12:05am)

Not sure if we could have fared as well w/o fastpass.

Try the week of Winter Break in February when I went, and on President's Day, and on Monday, all at the MK. I loved fast pass. I sacrificed getting to the park, going right in when it opened. Busted over to Tomorrowland, and got my SM fast pass. While I waited for just about an hour, I did a walk on for IASW, a walk on for Hall of Presidents, and a walk on for Haunted Mansion. I then went and got two Fast passes for both big thunder and splash. I went and did SM, then I did the TTA, and the COP. I enjoyed the rides and took my time. I browsed through some shops, and enjoyed the architecture. After thunder and splash I went and fast passed the jungle cruise, did the tiki room, ate, waited for a half an hour for pirates, and did the jungle cruise. I did all of this before the parade.

I really have no sympathy for people that do standby, especially on busy times of the year. If you can't get there early enough, than tough, because I made sure I did. I do think it is wrong how we fast passers load more than they do standbyers. Even singles get treated better. I think fast pass is good, but I also think there needs to be a better loading ratio.

You're nuts if you think there were no lines pre-fast pass.

I've been going to WDW since 1977 and IMHO FP is the best thing since sliced bread.

Used to be that if you wanted to ride an E-tic ride you had to wait until the fireworks or a parade to avoid the long wait.

I'm just amazed at the serendipity of WDW having two ques prebuilt into all the older attractions.

OMG, that's it!

I'm nuts.

I must have gotten lucky in 1990. After that...I must have had a breakdown or something. Perhaps Brazil wasn't there...maybe those people didn't exist...

And Mr. Sensitivity Expo...without us standbyers, you Fastpasser's wouldn't have anyone to laugh at and wave as you BUTTED in line....

:D

TimeTrip is 100% correct, I was there that week also...MK and AK were both closed to more visitors due to it being at max. capacity. We actually left around 12 each day from MK and came back around 4-12AM to go without the 1+ hour lines....there is not a time in the year that has more people than this...new years may be crowded but thats probably a cake walk compared to Easter Week...

I also agree that instead of taking 50% of the Fastpass line they should take it every 5th or fastpasser a standby should go...it would go faster for the standby...yes they have fastpasses but why should they take control of the place?? Sometimes you can't get fastpasses but I think they should be more like the M:S fastpass machines how if you get a fast pass at say 9:36 you can get another fastpass at 9:40 and if you don't beleive me I have 4 fastpasses unused to prove it... well ta!

I'll throw in with the FP crowd. I grew up in Winter Garden. I can remember 90 minute to 2 hour waits for Space Mountain as a kid. Now, I can walk in and maybe I wait five minutes. I think this was one of Disney's best ideas in years.

Boy.. someone's irritable (d'is) :). I also remember reallly long lines as a kid in the 80s. We used to go during the Easter week, and I can remember many a long wait for Space Mountain and Pirates, I still sort of miss waiting on long lines at Space.. it is one of the more enjoyable queues :).

really I am on both sides with this topic, on one had I know that when Fast Pass is used right it can help get everything done for the guest. But when I have to work it, it really sucks. When the fast pass line starts to make up and you have to basically stop the stand-by line in order to get the fastpass guest in really sucks. Makes me feel so bad for the stand-by line

So I don't know what to think :brick:

As long as they reduce the amount of fastpasses they give out by more than half (50% -> 20% of capacity), then that would work. But then you might have people complaining even more about how fast pass is useless :).

There is no denying that lines were long even before fastpass. I remember waiting in line for 90 minutes for jungle cruise in the early 90's!!

Fastpass is a wonderful timesaver for anyone with an once of time-planning skills.

So what you're saying is that a record setting day is a cakewalk compared to the relatively mild spring break we've had this year?
Also, MK and AK closed on very few days. Easter has been nothing this year.

I really don't consider it "butting" since the option is there for everyone.

I'm a huge fan of Fastpass. The lines are so much more manageable since it came along

Fastpass is, and should only be an option to get on the ride. People that come to the parks tend to think it is the ONLY way on the ride, when in reality it isnt. The best is when it runs out, and people think they cant get on the ride. Test Track is the worst for fastpass cause it runs out way too early. Epcot needs more fastpass attractions to make it go later in the day. Maybe...just maybe.....the new Dreamchasers will get fastpass!!!
