FastPass+ Most Certainly Not Coming Back As It Was

I agree, but also the FPs. And for me, the clean rooms (better than most hotels in the real world), the well run resorts, the willingness and speed that they fix problems, etc., etc.
There are other reasons and fastpass certainly is one of them.

but prebooked fastpasses have only existed 2013-2020…about 5 years less than their predecessor…
So that statement was way out there.

I believe this is more angst that free fastpass is likely done…announcement pending.

Other lesser parks do not assign times, you are simply allowed X number of rides per person on the day you visit, simple as that. Yes they don't have the crowds but it does work.
This is the crux of the issue, FP+ did work for free because it was not a skip the line pass, regardless what anyone thinks... it was much closer to a virtual queue. Moving to a paid skip the line pass will not alleviate standby waits but will singularly benefit those who want to pay. Depending on the cost, the only people who may win out vs. FP+ coming back are those who have zero qualms paying whatever Disney asks in abundance. They will win, everyone else will either ride less rides or spend more time in standby in order to ride the same number of rides that they are accustomed to.

Agreed…this is the whole game.

if it’s too cheap, everyone buys and it becomes an angry timed standby queue…

if it’s too high…angry standby queues throws darts at the self appointed Vip line AND every manager that dare shows their face in the park.

I don’t believe the management is smart enough to handle this…just a hunch.

Ah.
I kind of hope they go for a pay as you play FP. My family discussed and agreed we would pay to ride one FP ride per day, and if we skipped it, role it to the next day and do two. But we would not be in for a "$80/ person/ per day, mandatory length of stay", for us that's almost an extra $2k for the week. That's wayyyy too much cash for a week long trip, but say $15 per person per FP ala carte would be good. For us that would be $45 per day and would get us on an E-tic we didn't want to wait for. In reality, probably $500 for the week and 12 FPs each for 3 people over 6.5 days.

I might entertain those kind of numbers…though they are absolutely due to bad park philosophy/management longterm and I’m not condoning that…

the real issue is how it all plays/fits together? Park ops is a jigsaw puzzle…it all fits together. I don’t want anyone having a miserable time or the frustration mounting even higher than they’ve allowed it. That erodes the ambience and that is a big component to the day.

that being said…it’s criminal to charge their ticket prices without rides included in practical terms…and that’s where this ship is chugging

I live in Texas and my wife son and I have been AP at UNI for the last 5 years. We spend 4 weeks a year there. We spend less in 3 weeks combined what we spend in 10 days at Disney. Universal has hotels that we pay on average $90 a night. Lowest I can get at Disney is almost 1.5-2x that amount. That’s a giant difference off the hit. But we still used to spend 10 days or so a year at Disney doing all 4 parks and Halloween parties. This is just ANOTHER cash grab for Disney. If it was a day pass like UNI then I guarantee wouldn’t be near as many complaints.
hotel prices are a huge difference thats for sure

That’s not the reason…not close.

it’s the transportation, time savings, themed dining, integrated charging system…etc etc etc
Didn't they drop the Magical Express? Other non Disney resorts have transportation to the parks as well. I personally prefer Uber anyway. Non resort guests can also book the themed dining as well.
I always thought most people come to WDW for the parks and not the hotels. Staying at WDW resort was a way to enhance your park experience but if that goes away I don't see any point to paying those prices again.

I’m talking about the internal system…buses, boats, choo choos and paths…that far predate magical express. That cuts down significantly on logistics. That’s the one real “perk” that’s guaranteed.

but they’ve run hotels for 50 years and most of them since 1990 ish…long before fastpass and Magical express and dining plan…

The reason you pay so much for the hotels is 2/3rds because of the “D”…it’s not perks, services or amenities…

…they Aren’t in that game.

free fastpasses were nice…while they lasted.

the entire world doesnt just say charge it then pays for it for the next 10 years or has to declare bankruptcy, im afraid theres a portion of disney patrons that do.
There are…
But most that would need to do that have been driven away already

it’s very expensive now. It was never “cheap”…but now it’s very pricey. You can ski and eat great meals in vail or an island or Western Europe for less

No, a large portion of the world does. Including companies, investors, etc. Not a large percentage of people or companies have large amounts of cash on hand. Its mostly 'theoretical' money.

306 pages so far, and no one has mentioned the simplest solution to this, where each line is short and no FP/Standby Pass needed-double or triple the speed of each ride vehicle. Jungle Cruise would be a speedboat ride and it would keep that line a-movin'! The lines would be short enough that you could ride the same attraction 4 or 5 times to catch the stuff you missed the first time!

I agree for sure. I just heard on the Disney Dish pod that the extra 30 minute entry has meant that FoP now has a 140 minute wait when the park opens for everyone. While we stay on sight, we rarely get to the parks prior to 9:00am due to being out watching fireworks at night.

Along those lines, I wish WDW would open when they say they open. This opening 45 minutes prior to posted time is crazy and frustrating when you take them at their word, show up at 8:40, and find the park's been open for 30 minutes already and the FoP line now stretches to the back of Africa (I'm not still bitter, lol)

I wonder it some have anything to contribute other than to try to be the unimpressive wit. Tens of thousands of other threads where you can “not be bothered”…like trip reports 🥰
