But you’re still going. As long as the “planning a trip but…” is in place, they have the leverage.

I want APs too…I think I will get them…but my interact with guest comm doesn’t give me any illusions. They know exactly what l’m thinking/saying and they know exactly what I’ll do…statistically. The only way i were to Become “dominant” in this (same as you)…would be to disappear for about 2 years and take 2 million of my closest Friends with me.

My point is that there's another option besides cancelling the trip entirely. Disney wants to maximize my spending, but the truth is I spent more on my trips years ago when I had more freedom to do impulsive things. I dislike being forced to plan and pressured to spend, so my reaction has been to visit WDW less often and to spend less when I go. When we go again, it will be 2 1/2 years between trips for us which is unheard of for us (in the past 3 times a year was not uncommon). Part of that is Covid, but we were already planning to go less often because of the usual list of grievances: higher prices, shorter hours, upcharge ticketed events, crowds/long lines, etc.

I tend to agree that there will be a small free version for on-site resort guests, to limit the fallout from having to pay for every ride.
There will be no “requirement” to pay…however they will engineer it so the pressure on the ground each day makes it a difficult choice for most not to

I’m with you…problem is we are the minority.

You really think the people who are trying to book Mods and Deluxes opt to stay offsite or in neighboring towns when there is no availability? Or do many just adjust their plans when they are going?

Think center mass - not special cases.

Yes there will be cases where there would be no park capacity - but the majority then go 'hrm, well maybe we try another time'. Just like people who try to goto a Steelers Football game and find it sold out, try a different time, not go "well, how about a Cleveland game instead?"

Prior to Covid and the reduction of benefits to on site stays vs off site, I would agree with you. But as the benefits to staying on site (earlier FP or Dining reservations, free parking, Magic Express Access, purchase delivery, ect) started to be removed the choice between on site/off site became less. We have always stayed at the Contemporary due to proximity and on site benefits. Our latest trip when we were bumped off the Contemporary due to the refurbishment rather than moving the reservation in time, we moved to the Marriot World Resort. Its a generalization but I would guess many individuals who are booking the more expensive deluxe rooms are employed at jobs which do not have the highest level of flexibility in off time. Taking that into account, along with children's school schedules, ect., the timing of vacation is going to be a primary concern, as long as on site benefits don't drastically outweigh off site stay.

Both SHDL and DLP used to have both free FP and paid FP options prior to COVID. Since the pandemic, both parks got rid of free FP, in favor of only having a paid option. That sends a pretty clear signal about TWDC’s plans.

Again, those are completely different parks size and crowd wise and does not accommodate nearly as many people. The only direction that is evident is some form of paid FP will be coming to WDW. It will not be a complete replacement or overhaul as it would be too much of a hit on the resort guests. There will be a free component that is more then just a stand by pass to wait in line later on.

At this point nobody is going to change their stance but we all agree on the premise that Disney is looking to monetize FP. That does not mean every resort guest will be impacted the same.

I hope this does not continue to drag on much longer and will all find out relatively soon.

For DLR I would agree. For WDW to go from 3 free to all paid seems like a bridge to far IMO.

This. And even saying they get 1 is a bit far fetched in my opinion. 2 or 3 as a cap off and then pay like everyone else.

Managing stand by lines and selling line skips can still be profitable and keep guests satisfied without a dramatic change charging everyone.
