poll:fastpass 2.0

I requested my My Vacation Package from CRO today and I was on the phone with my CM at CRO for 45 Min. I asked her about how the fast pass works and this is what she told me.

You have to wait two hours to get another one.

If you receive your Fast Pass at 10:00 and your entry time is 13:30 you can get another one for another attraction at 12:00 if you entry time is after 13:30 from the first one. so you have to plan accordingly "grasshopper"

If Disney can think of a new, better, improved Fast Pass system, then of course, change the current one. But until then , we get what we get.

Fastpass is a great service... Here's the trick... You actually have to use some brain power to understand the full potential of the system... This can be extremely hard for many guests since it seems like they constantly leave their brain cells at home... Not ALL of them, but most!

If there is an attraction you really want to ride, and the wait is longer than 30 minutes get a Fastpass and go do something else... Take into consideration the virtual wait of the Fastpass... Usually you only have to wait between 45-60 minutes to use your Fastpass, but there are a few attraction that build higher virtual waits and sometime very quickly... For example, Test Track is usually out of Fastpasses by 12-1 in the afternoon... This means that if you get a Fastpass for Test Track at 12 you may have to wait until 8pm to use it... This is where you want to weigh the stand-by wait time very carefully... Also take into consideration that Disney will often inflate the stand-by wait time to allow for variables (eg. weather and downtimes)... So, if the posted wait is 60 minutes that means that you may have to wait 60 minutes to get on the ride, but more likely the wait will be approx. 30-45 minutes...

Thanks Disneyreports. One note on the inflated times. It is usually better to give your customer a time longer than real so you wont get disgruntled at you being later that you were prommised. Key in the service bussiness is Under promis and over deliver.

Well WDWFREAK then it would be like making a reservation then and I'm not shure if you want to go on vacation to make reservations for everything you do and have to keep looking at a watch to be some where at a certian time. thats not what vacation is supposed to be for.

I love the Fast Pass system. I would prefer if they operated it like the USF system where you have one booth with many options but it is good and has saved me many a wait.

Don't you do that with FastPass now??? You keep looking at your watch to see if your FastPass time has arrived

I don't see how FastPass can be anything Bad. If you don't use it, great. It you use it, great. It's just an extra benefit, you are getting something you couldn't before -- an imaginary person to stand in line for you while you do something else, or nothing. You can even get one, wait in the long line to ride, and then get on again right after you rode with your FastPass. What is some negative things you've heard. The only thing I ever hear is that people don't understand what it is or how to use it as stated earlier. I am all for improvements though.

People feel that the stand-by line is LONGER because they let all the FastPass people on...but they don't realize...without FastPass...the stand-by line would be LONGER because all those FastPass people would be in line ahead of them because the FastPass people obviously got to the attraction before the people without FastPass.

Oh, they have misconceptions that FastPass is bad. That was one of the things I put in the Stupid things you hear post. People in Standard lines complaining about all the people passing them in line. A FastPass is the same as being in line, if they want to complain, they should get one also.

That's exactly how I feel. (They complain because THEY didn't think to get one!)

Fast Pass is ok, but.....

With the technology in place at present to ensure that you can only get one FP at a time why not tweek the system slightly. If you can get 2 FP on your ticket at any one time you could get that all important ride (TT which is usually out by lunch) and still have the facility to use FP for other attractions.

You can get another FastPass after 2 hours of getting your first.

So, it IS possible to have 2 FP's at once

The only thing I don't like is FP for TT. I think that's more like waiting in a stand-by line. The last Two times I used FP at TT, I waited 45 minutes. Now that beats the pants off of 120 minutes, but still. And I remember in the standby line, there use to be a sign on busy days, it said that the wait would be One group admitted evrey Five minutes. That seems a little dramatic though. Does anyone else remember this sign? I don't complain anymore, I just go to the single rider line, it's MUCH quicker.

Ps: Does anyone know if they ever re-did the que to fit all three lines in the building?

Fastpass is fine right know, the only time I really ever need to use it is going on to Test Track, because the line is so damn long.

When we were at WDW in May/June the only problem we encountered was the fast pass at the Winnie the Pooh ride.....those things went faster than for TT~ then of course the stand by line was like 120minutes the entire day. Of course it was only a problem on our first day when we didn't realize the fast passes for Pooh would go so quickly...the fp's didn't even go that fast for Peter Pan and I would rather ride that one over and over again...the 2 yr old however wanted to ride pooh several times!
The thing to remember is some people are always going to try and figure out a way to beat the system...I think its a pretty good system as it is...but I do wish that maybe they did have all the fast passes in one section for each land..you know the fantasyland fp machines in one area with wait times....let you make your ONE choice then and there w/o running across the parks.

I have had no problems with the Fastpass. Has anyone tried the Express pass at Universal? Basically the same thing, but a bit more complex it lets you choose between 3 different return times. Maybe to please more people Disney could try the same.
