Multiple employees in DCA and Disneyland told me MagicBand FastPassPlus starts testing in September to October. With Soarin opening back they installed it for that attraction first.

A few CMs told me an Iron Man attraction would be making its way to Tomorrowland.

You can't put your faith in what the CMs say. Bob Iger has repeatedly said FP+ wasn't coming to the DLR.

LOL nice one. Magic Bands would be a logistical nightmare at DL as the DL forums on here have already reported. The next logical place for MBs is probably on the cruise ships.

If I remember correctly one site reported that they have internal documents from their source on it coming? I think it is for sure coming because Bob Iger never said it wont come, it is just not ready yet..

For cruise ships they already have it for Disney for the kids club.

Was an interview with him not that long ago that said the bands wouldn't be going because DL is a huge majority of locals as where the bands would be pointless cause they wouldn't be using hotels, room charges etc.

"But the future of Disneyland will apparently not include MagicBands, a wristband that uses microchip technology to let guests use the bands in place of theme park tickets, hotel room keys and even credit cards. The wristbands debuted at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., in 2013.

Disneyland does not plan to offer the wristbands at the park anytime soon, said Mary Niven, vice president for Disneyland Park.

She said the wristband won't work with Disneyland's guest demographics. Many visitors are local residents who do not stay for long periods at the nearby hotels, where the bands would be used heavily."

"Staggs says the company will roll out "variations on MyMagic+." He explains that this "doesn’t mean the MagicBand will be used in every [park]." MagicBand probably won’t come to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, because restructuring costs would be too high."

If Magic Bands were coming to DLR the exec team would not be denying the spread of their billion dollar investment. DLR and every other Disney resort will pick and choose elements of MM+ that work for it and apply them.

Sadly, Haunted Mansion just got this seemingly permanent theme/view-killing sign:

I want to believe it's simply because, ill-advised as it may be, they've started using Fastpass with classic Mansion due to renewed interest since HBG 2.0. But, dude...shades of Fastpass+ signs at WDW HM. A literal sign of things to come?

Well for disability pass the cast members use this app that looks exactly like FastPass Plus. They just started using it.

Hi. Welcome to the boards. They've been using that since Christmastime. It's not MagicBands.

See the public admissions by senior Disney executives, linked and posted above, that state MagicBands won't be coming to the Disneyland Resort.

Yes but a possibility of FastPass Plus NOT MagicBands.

Also, WDW NT is not a news source. They posted an unconfirmed report with no confirmation from anywhere else. I'll believe it when I see it (or hear it from a site that isn't reporting that Marvel and Universal are trying to make a deal to remove their park rights from UOR).

Not sure I understand all of the push back on the bands. The bands themselves really mean nothing. I was last in WDW in October 2013 when they were still rolling the bands out (actually got them the first day they were at our hotel), but at the time you could use a park ticket, room key, or magic band interchangeably. The various elements around the bands seem to be coming to Disneyland in some form regardless. So why not include the bands for anyone staying at a Disney owned property as another perk for guests. They could then offer them for sale for any AP or ticket holders.

The primary push back seems to be around FastPass+ and not the actual bands. Maybe they'll look at the more casual manner of guests in Disneyland and come up with a more high tech compromise. They know when a guest enters a park. Maybe they can enable FastPass+ as only being active for reservations once in the park. Then they could follow the logic of allowing 2 or 3 slots that continuously roll with that number of reservations allowed at any given time. If they really wanted to they could even follow a strict 1 at a time policy where the ride manages the time available to reserve just like the current system. By linking the ticket/AP to the app you could manage it through your phone like the normal FastPass+. For the non tech savvy though they could have upgraded machines that you touch your band/ticket/ap to say who you are and then choose a ride to have the FastPass+ attached to it for the rides designated time (very similar to how WDW does it but with the rides following a classic FP time model instead of free form time slots). They could even offer printed receipts like the current ones do (not sure if WDW offers that at the moment, don't remember it from when we went).

With the move to digital it's obvious that FastPass+ will eventually happen, where it falls procedurally on the chart between classic and WDW's FP+ isn't known, but i'd guess closer to the classic. They'll have to upgrade it to work with apps though. How the Magic Band plays into that though, doesn't really seem relevant. The band is just a platform that carries the same chip they can put in cards and any other item.

I know I'll be heading to Disneyland for the first time in September/October and will be staying at the Grand Californian. I'm looking forward to the classic experience, but would gladly test the Magic Bands once more if offered.

Have DL Mansion wait times actually spiked?
