Far out resort location- how much of a hassle?

My boyfriend and I are planning a Disney World trip for September, and we had pretty much decided on Coronado Springs when I read some stuff about how the location of CS is kind of far out, in the Animal Kingdom area, away from everything else. Now I am kind of waffling between trying out CS or going back to French Quarter, where we stayed last time and we know we love it. I just kind of wanted to try something different this time. I really want to get some opinions of how much of an annoyance to you it really is to stay somewhere farther out, or is it worth it?

(We're planning on going to Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Typhoon Lagoon this trip.)

I have stayed at CS twice, and never found the bus rides too long. The size of the resort was more a pain than anything, as there are several stops to be made. That was one of the reasons we went to FQ most recently and that has become our moderate of choice.

This has been my thoughts as well when considering an AK resort stay. My two cents (from a professional worrier) is, if you can't be totally convinced or think you will worry about this from now until your trip, switch resorts to what you know and love. I have done this and ended up going into a vacation set up for disappointment due to my own worry. If you are more adventurous and tend to roll with things, go for it and have a great time.

That depends, do you have your own car or are you planning on using Disney Transportation? If you have your own car, just drive to a resort near your park of the day and say youre dining there (you really ARE NOT supposed to do this :)) and take a monorail or boat or walkway (from the Contemporary) so you don't have to pay $14 to park. If you get to the stop at the right time it's not too bad, but I don't think the waterparks charge for parking...I could be wrong though! We haven't been to a Disney waterpark since 2010 and we rode the bus from POP. I believe it stops at DTD and TL so it takes a while. Have fun! :D

In all honesty it is a real non issue. Naturally, there are some resorts that are closer to things than others, but the reality is that you can drive from one corner of the property to the other in about 20-30 minutes. You travel times from CS to the parks you mentioned might differ by 10 minutes when compared to the same travel times from POFQ.

Definitely don't worry about it at all. On maps it may look far but it's really not. Bus rides aren't long and most of the Disney resort is compact enough to not be a hassle. Enjoy! Coronado is one of our favorites and were staying there on our Disneymoon!!

You DON'T have to do this... as when you're a guest at ANY Disney Resort you don't pay the parking fees.

I've stayed in Pop Century, which I believe is an Animal Kingdom resort, and we didn't have a problem with trips being too long using Disney transportation. If anything, like someone else mentioned, there may be multiple stops within the resort, but distance wise I wouldn't worry about it.

I have stayed at POP,CBR, CSR, BC, AKL, POLY and 1 night at the DOLPHIN. I did not notice any transportation issues using the buses from CSR or AKL than I did from the others. I will say POLY was extremely convenient for Magic Kingdom of course with the monorail... but the buses are just the buses, on any particular day or time they are quick or not so quick..Personally I loved CSR , the sprawl, the beauty of the lake and the foilage and the rooms are almost to a deluxe kind of quality, the health club... I would not be afraid to stay at a different resort based on proximity, on the other hand if it was F&W time I would definitely select and Epcot are resort simply to be right THERE, otherwise all these resorts I have listed were nice and enjoyable for reasons uniquely their own.

Somewhere I think Parentsof4 did a moderate resort comparison that I reviewed the other day , was interesting but didn't convince me over PORS vs POFQ, I think I would like both for different reasons....
