Fantasyland wood effect?

So I recently returned from my trip to Disneyland and got to thinking while in line for Peter. The wood used in Fantasyland looks like it’ll be coarse and rough when you touch it, but in reality it’s smooth. Any idea as to what process the construction crew used to get this effect? I’m thinking they sandblasted the wood, but I’m not 100% sure on that. All ideas are welcome!

There is a specific term for it, I'm pretty sure it's mentioned in Younger's Theme Park Design but I don't have a copy near me right now. Most "wood" you see in the parks is essentially plaster sculpted to look like wood - as real wood isn't generally durable enough to stand up to tens of thousands of people touching it all day.

So it's chicken wire and more durable plaster. Something along the same lines as the spiries at GE. It probably causes cancer if scratched. 😲
