Fantasyland / Tomorrowland Seque?

I missed the JC last time we went, so I'm making sure I get on it this time. I think it's supposed to be kinda cheeky and kinda corny, but fun at the same time. Kinda like "African Queen" but with the Three Stooges or something.

It was my impression that the Cars Land ride would be closer to Test Track than to the Speedway.

Going a bit off topic here, but I would argue that the most obsolete attraction in MK is the Jungle Cruise. I've read that Walt originally wanted it to use live animals, but ended up with audio animatronics as a second choice. Now that we have the Safari in AK, I think they should do something else with the huge JC footprint.

:eek: JC is stil a top 5 MK attraction.

I agree. Classic attraction, still fun, still very popular. In need of updating, yes, but far from obsolete.

On topic, I think that the transition area from TL to FL (FLE) will be handled in about the same exact way it is now. As has been pointed out, you can see the Castle from Tomorrowland as is, so they will most likely just use the current speedway / Alice as a gradual transition. Maybe with the new Forest elements, the transition will be a little less jarring as is. I'm mildly confident that there will still be some forests around Tomorrow. I hope...

Everyone will probably disagree with me, but I think steampunk theming (when used appropriately) could possibly work for the walk.

Just a passing thought

I can't ever see them going this route either (I think too limited an audience that even knows what steampunk is), and can't say I'm huge into steampunk either, BUT with that being said, it really would work if they did it right.

I would have to think Tomorrowland is next on the list of upgrades. If a CarsLand style of ride is ever built at DHS, there's no reason why they'd need to keep the Speedway. That's a heck of a lot of usable space for one attraction that's way past its prime (even though it's one of our family favorites).

At the same time, I've always kinda thought of the pathway between the Speedway and Cosmic Ray's as kind of a transition area from one land to the next. There isn't a lot to look at, the Speedway isn't anything I'd consider as futuristic, Cosmic Ray's is pretty generic from the outside, and some of the FL style begins right across from Cosmic Ray's. So for me, the long walk from TL to the tea cups works perfectly to slowly transition from TL to FL.

With DCA getting Radiator Springs Racers, they don't have any plans of closing Autopia at Disneyland....why would you think that if Carsland and a similar ride opened at DHS that they would close the speedway at MK?

I know!!

What if they build a huge meet and greet area with a kiosk next to it that sells nothing but pins and vinylmation!!

Sounds very Disney 2010.

I think the most awkward part is on the walkway where on one side is Cosmic Ray's and the other is a English cottage looking building. Its so awkward looking.

You want 'our' tomorrowland to be like the least impressive tomorrowland ever built?

You mean the one with consistent theming, Autopia cars that don't drench of diesel fuel (and have lighting effects and on-board audio), live entertainment, and a beautiful Space Mountain (with onboard audio and visual effects in the ride)?

Sounds terrible.

I may be slightly biased having grown up on the left coast, but I love the Jules Verne inspired theme. I would also not mind Space Mountain 2.

Lol it has the least to offer as far as theme elements (their restaurant is nothing more than floppy roof panels, they only have 4 rides in their tomorrowland and the park is already 5 years old. Their Space Mountain is the cheapest incarnation of them all I wouldn't call it exactly beautiful.

No offense, but if you think JC's goal is to create a realistic Jungle Exploration experience, you are kind of missing the point. :D

That is an area that I don't think can be fixed. At least I do not see it how they could do something about that clashing.

And you would call WDW's tomorrowland area near cosmic ray's beautiful?

What is more futuristic?

My point is that half of WDW's tomorrowland is fantastic and the other half is mediocre in terms of theming. I would like to see them at least update it from the 60s architecture it is right now. Nothing futuristic about that.

That's pretty much the only good stuff about HKDL's tomorrowland.

i LOVE the speedway, but they do need to do something about the transition. if they were to knock the speedway out, they should bring back 20000 leagues :ROFLOL: i wish i had been able to ride that attraction. with today's technology they could really bring it into a whole new world. in other parks its not in fantasyland, but in tomorrowland. or when they knock out TTF, they should exlongate as it used to be before TTF took over. They're not gonna be doing Pixie Hollow anymore, so why not make the speedway nice and much bigger and just an overhaul, it would look amazing. Dumbo sure as hell wont take up all that room for sure.

No, I get what it is now. I'm saying Walt's intent was to create a realistic jungle experience. It just never happened... until AK.

And I definitely think that area could be better used for a big new Adventureland expansion.
