its amazing how the parks change over the years. A lot of history out there to be learned. I love seeing the past and the present, whether good or bad. Everything changes. Have fun on your bday. Birthday drink to you, grand marnier slushie.

It's interesting you mention that. That planter actually had quite a grim history. It was the location where a CM fell to his (eventual) death from a Skyway bucket in '99.

"On February 14, 1999, a 65-year-old part-time custodian was killed when he fell off a gondola. He was cleaning the Fantasyland Skyway station platform when the ride was accidentally turned on. He was in the path of the ride vehicles and grabbed a passing gondola in an attempt to save himself. He lost his grip, fell 40 feet, and landed in a flower bed near the Dumbo ride. He died shortly after arrival at a local hospital. The Skyway ride, which had been scheduled to be closed before the accident occurred, was permanently closed on November 10, 1999. As a result of the accident, OSHA fined Walt Disney World US$4,500 for violating federal safety codes in that work area."

Interesting, I had never heard this story before.

I don't have a problem with the planter being gone. The more of this stuff we see removed the sooner we will have an expanded Fantasyland.

That just means more room when walking to maneuver around all those pesky strollers! :king:

maybe...

I'd be willing to bet there'll be a construction wall right down the middle of that nice large space pretty soon...

Just a guess - but since we all know what's going to happen with the area...any takers?

We will, in fact, be there the week of your birthday. (Eli will get his own trip when, as Scott says, he can appreciate it more. ) We'll probably be in Epcot on the 16th to be exact! Do you have a suggestion on a drink you'd like for us to consume in your birthday's honor? :D

Good luck for the next surgery. Your friend in NC will surely be thinking about you and hoping for your speedy recovery.

Oh just a Coke is fine :ROFLOL:as thats what I usually get there and you may forget so at least you can say you drank what I asked or go for the Beverly since I won't drink that stuff :hurl: . It is awesome you will be at my fav park on my Bday. Kinda makes it like a lil part of me is there

As far as thinking of me well I hope you send very strong prayers and by the time you are in Florida I am fully recovered and hoping to be there soon after you!
