Fantasyland/Mine Train aerial image update

Farther to the right, just opposite the lift hill from the ones highlighted, right? My best guess is water feature, waterfall down that flows around, under, and out on the other side, but I didn't see anything like that in the model, so I'm not sure. I guess, looking back at the concept art, there is a waterfall in that general area, so maybe it is.

The problem with being water feature is that I don't think you would be able to see it, even from the top of the lift hill. May just be some sort of maintenance access.

That's my guess. A way to get up there and maintain plants (both real and fake) and other rooftop infrastructure without having to scale the mountain with a climbing harness. With the right planning and angles, you won't even be able to see that it's there from ground-level.

I'll say it's been a while since I've stared at aerial photos intensely, it's almost nostalgia for the construction of FLE here!

Anyone know what the "cut" (for lack of a better term) in the top of the mountain on the right-hand side of the picture is? It's in the "grey" part of the stone right now. Is that water feature? Place for some other sort of construction to be added on? Water feature? On the model, I dont see anything coinciding with that area.

Edit: adding picture to show what I'm talking about:

Looking at the location I almost think it would be used to hide up lighting. To place lights to illuminate the underside of the trees

I noticed this line too, I'm not 100% sure but I think that's the temporary scaffolding/handrail that the construction workers use to walk around on the top of the mountain, but I can't confirm it from any of the ground level photos

Mount Prometheus has a similar cut in the mountain visible only from air. I always presumed it had something to do with limiting the forces on the mountain.

Interestingly, it looks like larger planters are going in by the Village Haus... maybe some big trees to block the the last backstage sightline...

Also looks like the seating area will be much larger....this will eat up some of that open tarmac feel we were experiencing before. Fingers crossed for trees in the planters.

The cut in the gray section of Dwarfs looks like a maintenance path to me....maybe up some stairs from the inside in that top straight section, then winding around all the way to the top (unfinished) section. They would need to have access to that area, and a moat-like, hidden path, would be a reasonable assumption. It could also house lighting to illuminate the top portion of the structure (note that I'm careful NOT to call it a mountain...lol).

for some reason I thought that the castle walls were extending further down to the east. Was that revised when the Mine Train was added?

I'm not expecting 7DMT to be a long ride. It'll probably be about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes like Space Mountain. I honestly can't wait for it to open! Thanks for posting the aerial photos!

Thank you Scott. I have been missing your arial shots for while now. Maybe we can shift the arial shots to AK to watch the work on Avatar?

It depends on my schedule. More than likely most future projects will be overhead verticals. I've already started doing Downtown Disney that way.

Wow! Looks to be a long ride! (Hopefully) Anyone know where the entrance is? I was thinking the middle left of the building, next to the outside drop. I would think that bathrooms will be placed here, i haven't noticed any others around the FLE.
There are bathrooms in belles village so no need for one in the mine train area!

So, a lot of people have commented that the ride we are receiving looks very different from the concept art, and I agree (I know it's just artwork and not meant to be a scale model). But, the one big difference people seem to be mentioning is the lack of covered track. In the artwork it seems like the train dips into the mountain and into caves/mines whereas the "finished" track looks mostly uncovered. I'm no engineer, but, is it possible (or just wishful thinking) that more is still to come? Is it possible that they wanted to lay down the basic track and that more cave/coverings could be added down the road? Does that make any sense? Like if they built the steel frame off site that could be plopped down on top of the tracks. It could be already cut out or formed like an upside down U so that the train goes right under it (measured for height of guests, etc) and then they will cover it with fake rock work and/or grass. It would obviously have to be bolted down into place and have concrete footings but it makes sense to me. Does anyone know if they are planning on "covering" any more of the track or would it have already been done? I hope this makes a little bit of sense...

What is built so far looks very similar to the model at One Man's Dream at DHS, so I believe a good portion will be uncovered, yet quite themed with rock work around you.
