Fantasyland Dark Rides

Does anyone besides me think that more dark-rides should be added to Fantasyland? Disneyland already has more than us and they're alot better themed then ours are...How about updating the facades and queues too? Also, if they were to build new dark-rides, what would you like them to be? (ex: Cinderalla, Marry Poppins, etc.)

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! I think the MK should get TWO new dark rides, and every other park get at least one new one... i would LOVE to see==

Mary Poppins (kind of like peter pan - in an umberella flying over different scenes

Bedknobs and Broomsticks - on a flying bed

Bambi - through all the great woodland creatures

villains

princess

fab five

jungle book!!! (maybe as a flume)

Actually, Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom was supposed to get a different set of dark rides for opening day back in the 70's, including one based on Mary Poppins (in place of Peter Pan's Flight, you would have been in umbrella's going through London). Again, as costs soared, they thought prices would be cut by eliminating the development of these new rides and bringing over the dark rides from Disney Land's Magic Kingdom. Fun to think about what could have been isn't it?

Yes, i heard about those rides (i think there was a Sleeping Beauty one too planned) but at least DL's got a big update with new rides and facades and queues and ours looks majorly dated, and has much less rides than the DL one.

I oh so agree.....

They first need to update the facades of the rides themed like DL's European Village look to them. That would be veryyyyyyyyy beautiful, IMO.

Also, this might sound a lil far-fetched(sp?) but maybe drain out the lagoon or in some other place but build a show building for two new dark rides..... Pinochio's Daring Journey (go to disneylandsource.com and view the video, it looks fabulous) and of course, the return of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (I have always wanted to ride it :()

They dont have to add new rides, but I would be very happy if they just did the facade updates alone....

especially Snow White and Small World! Those two have the worst entrance..

I would love to see all those rides(especially the Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins, they're two of my fave movies). I agree the DL Fantasyland looks so much prettier and more unique whil wdw's well... just doesn't. I don't think that that the heads should worry to much though I'd rather see that money go to other things(AK, Epcot update, ect).

I would love to see a Beauty and the Beast dark ride show up in Fantasyland- driving Maurice's invention through the village to the forest and through the Castle or some sort of spinning teacup dark ride like Roger Rabbit at DL themed to Chip. Little Mermaid might be fun too, have it where the sub lagoon is and have it fit in with the whole Ariel's Grotto area.

Beauty and the Beast has great potential. Everyone knows it, hugely successful, Academy Award noms and whatnot, and its a classic princess story.

I'd like a Great Mouse Detective ride too, but thats too similar with Peter Pan maybe with the whole "London" thing. Maybe, maybe not, could be fun!!

it's funny you guys have mentioned the facades because I had always thought that MK's Fantasyland was very "strip mallish" and everyone I told disagreed with me.

By that...I mean...if you look at all of the other "lands" The attractions all "stand out" and have their own buildings, etc.

Strip mall stores all look alike but the thing that separates them from each other is the signage...and this is the case with Fantasyland...How does the front of Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Philharmagic, and IASW differ from each other? Just the signage.

I'm fine with Fantasyland the way it is (aside from the Lagoon) but change the facades to make it look like a land of fantasy...not like a strip mall.

When I'm in Frontierland...I feel like I'm in the old west...when I'm in Adventureland...I feel like I'm in the jungle...when I'm in Liberty Square, I feel like I'm in the old colonial US...When I'm in fantasyland...I just see a bunch of decent attractions that are good on their own...but as an entire land...they don't "flow" together...and it gets very repetitive.

Go to DL and check out the facades in FantasyLand there. Or search for a video of IaSW with the dolls coming out. None of your friends will argue with you about the "stip mallish" idea.

That and you can still ride Mr. Toad :)

Yes, yes, yes. I think that Disney needs to add A LOT of dark rides to update the presence of their more modern masterpieces. I always go back and forth between thinking that they could add one massive ride in which you ride suspended and float through the underwater world of Ariel, then through the castle of the Beast, then through Agrabah with Aladdin, and then through Lion King or thinking that they should add separate rides for each movie. I also think that Cinderella needs more representation then just the castle. I also think that Disney needs to create a villains ride...either the flume ride that has been suggested before...or the other idea I like better is a ride much like Spiderman where you encounter the Evil Queen, Maleficient, Hook, Ursula, Hades, Cruella and wind up in a pulse pounding finale.
I think if Disney expanded Fantasyland big time they would see an enormous rise in attendance.

This is what i whould like to see in Fantasyland:

(1) Redo the themeing like DL's Fantasyland!!!

(2) Do something to the lake (old 20 lagoon ride area) maybe open that area up and add more dark rides.

(3) Cinderella Dark Ride she needs one

(4) Lion King Dark Ride

(5) Beauty and the Beast Dark Ride (Spinning teacup dark ride like Roger Rabbit at DL themed to Chip.)

(6) Mary Poppins Dark Ride (Kind of like peter pan - in an umberella flying over different scenes.)

(7) Pinochio Ride (Water one like DL's)

(8) And A Villains ride (Either the flume ride that has been suggested ...or the other idea like that Spiderman Ride at IOA, where you encounter the Evil Queen, Maleficient, Hook, Ursula, Hades, Cruella and other Disney Villains (All Villains in the ride thats what i like to see) with a pulse pounding finale.

So what you all think i know its long but thares some thought, thats all,

I agree with you...although these are some ideas of mine that incorporate yours. :D

1. The theming needs to be different from DL...clones always "loose" something along the way.

2. The Lagoon: I like the whole "look" of the lagoon...so maybe the Ariel attraction or the rumored Mermaid Lagoon would be perfect.

3. Cinderella has the park icon...I feel that is enough...as well as the show out front...and usually the best "float" in the parades.

4. Lion King Ride: Better in Animal Kingdom...but the show is awesome so you don't want to get redundant.

5. I like the idea of the Beauty and the Beast attraction...although...maybe have you RIDE in "chip" and not have it be a teacup attraction...because there is already one in Fantasyland.

6. Mary Poppins...put it in the UK at Epcot (it NEEDS to be done!)

7. Pinocchio Ride: I'm all for it!

8. Villains Ride: I'm all for that too...but that would have to be perfect :D
