Fantasmic Refurb.

When will WDW's Fantasmic get its much needed refurbishment? I mean, it's a beautiful show, but it's been the same ever since it was brought to Hollywood Studios.

Does anyone know if this would ever happen? :veryconfu

I don't have an answer, but I agree that it needs work, big time. I've never been a fan of DHS's Fantasmic. In my opinion, it's really pathetic compared to Disneyland's version. And just taken on it's own, it bores me.

I'd rather watch Youtube videos of Disneyland's than watch DHS's in person. I actaully consider it (Disneyland's version) one of my favorite Disney shows, even though I've never seen it in person. With some changes (one example- a non-cardboard looking boat for the finale) and a little love, DHS's could be just as great.

Think for yourselfer
I agree, it needs some freshening. I first thought that when they started canceling showings that they may be updating it on off days a little at a time. Turns out I was wrong about that though.

Fant is still very popular and frequently fills up. Currently, I don't think it's a high priority for them to change it.

Agreed. The DHS version is borderline awful, when compared to Disneyland's.

Disneyland's version is like magic. It is the perfect show. Almost everything about it is right. Then on the other side of the US, you have DHS's Fantasmic!, which acts more like a B-related film (at best).

The other night I was at DHS, Fantasmic! wasn't evening running properly. The dragon wasn't working, the ending was off...it was a mess. For course, that is going to happen once and a while.....BUT it shouldn't if the show is only shown two nights a week. I'd rather see Fantasmic! get upgraded for the summer than see AK extend it's hours or Illuminations getting a new tag at the end.
Properly upgrading Fantasmic! would pay for itself in the end. The show has been running too long on 'E.'

I've seen both in person, and while I really like how the DL show comes out of nowhere in the middle of the park, I prefer the WDW version. The WDW show feels much bigger, and the organised seating is certainly a big plus. The Peter Pan scenes in DL didn't work as well as Pocahontas for me, and for WDW, you can't beat Mickey up ontop of the mountain.

I don't think that's a good enough reason for them not to update it? DL's Fantasmic is extremely popular and it has received significant updates over the past few years.

And you're one of the few people I know who didn't like the Peter Pan scene! Personally I like both, Pocahontas and Peter Pan. The Pocahontas segment is a bit muddled I think, but I like it :)

I have only watched Fantasmic two time, but I have always thought that the Pocahontas segment is too random. I have never seen the PP one, though.

But, wouldn't they want it to match up to DL's Fantasmic since they just recently updated it?

As someone else said...no. Why would they spend money to update a show that is super popular and fills up all the seats? If attendance was going down they might consider it, but it's not.

Sadly, this is true.

I know there are people who love this show, but there are also many many people who think the DHS version is seriously lacking.
And I'm not even talking about just comparing it to DL's.

I've lived in Orlando for years now, and I've only seen F! 2 or maybe 3 times, total. That was before I'd ever seen videos of DL's. I had no idea there even WAS one in Disneyland. Based on it's own merits I wasn't impressed. I remember thinking, "That's what everyone was talking about? I don't get it." I think there is far to much of the animation on the water screens. That seems to go on forever, IMO. I don't like the Pocahontas scene or the silly little boat I mentioned before. I will give DHS's the edge on the finale. I love Sorcery Mickey up on that mountain.

If you could take that one part of DHS's version and put it in DL, that would be perfect! :ROFLOL:

Well said :) Having seen both I agree the WDW version is better in my opinion. Peter Pan is nice but just doesn't flow as smoothly as the WDW version. The only thing FANTASMIC! at wdw needs is to be shown nightly.
